Default Help please. Uninstall problem

Hello . .

I am on 3Windows XP and have just downloaded limewire. It was all working fine but then my computer shut itself down and when I restarted Limewire I had the cross over the world in the bottom left hand corner acting as a firewall. and a message saying I had lost the ability to share files and it had been turned off.
I could reactivate this by going into to tools options, i tunes sharing . That didnt work so I followed the instructions to uninstall limewire and start again .

I deleted everything sucessfully from programes and files but when I went to right click the start button and go to exlore to delte all those limewire files it wouldnt allow me to do it saying

appliance.jar cannot be deleted as it is being used by another person or program.

I am aware I cant reinstall limewire until I have deleted this so now I am stuck

How do I get limewire working agains people? Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

The proper way to uninstall LW is to go to Start menu -> All Programs -> LW -> Uninstall.

It's probably too late now for you to do this.

Reboot into safe mode & try deleting it.

I'd also suggest after rebooting normally, you run this utility to clean the registry: Crap Cleaner (click on the Registry tab to use that function)

I am not so sure reinstalling LW will fix any connection or firewall problem. That's the silliest piece of advice I've heard. And yes they say it on the LW support page. They also give incorrect advice for uninstalling LW. The advice I gave to uninstall was direct advice from one of the LW devs after LW changed the type of installer they use some years ago.

To reinstall cleanly use this technique: http://www.gnutellaforums.com/333278-post2.html however, you might be better off with this version: Get LimeWire for Your Platform - Lime Wire
