Try to make your post descriptive, specific, and clear so members can quickly and efficiently help you. To aid helpers in solving download/upload problems, LimeWire and Frostwire users must specify whether they are downloading a torrent file or a file from the Gnutella network. Members need to supply these details >>> System details - help us to help you (click on blue link) Moderators There are senior members on the forums who serve as Moderators. These volunteers keep the board organized and moving. Moderators are authorized to: (in order of increasing severity) Move posts to the correct forums. Many times, members post in the wrong forum. These off-topic posts may impede the normal operation of the forum. Edit posts. Moderators will edit posts that are offensive or break any of the House Rules. Delete posts. Posts that cannot be edited to comply with the House Rules will be deleted. Restrict members. This is one of the last punishments before a member is banned. Restrictions may include placing all new posts in a moderation queue or temporarily banning the offender. Ban members. The most severe punishment. Three or more moderators or administrators must agree to the ban for this action to occur. Banning is reserved for very severe offenses and members who, after many warnings, fail to comply with the House Rules. Banning is permanent. Bans cannot be removed by the moderators and probably won't be removed by the administration. The Rules 1. Warez, copyright violation, or any other illegal activity may NOT be linked or expressed in any form. Multiple offenses will result in consequences. File names are not required to discuss your issues. If filenames are copyright then do not belong on these forums & will be edited out or post removed. Picture sample attachments in posts must not include copyright infringement. 2. Spamming and excessive advertising will not be tolerated. Commercial advertising is not allowed in any form, including using in signatures. 3. There will be no excessive use of profanity in any forum. 4. There will be no racial, ethnic, or gender based insults, or any other personal attacks. 5. Pictures may be attached to posts and signatures if they are not sexually explicit or offensive. Picture sample attachments in posts must not include copyright infringement. 6. Remember to post in the correct forum. Take your time to look at other threads and see where your post will go. If your post is placed in the wrong forum it will be moved by a moderator. There are specific Gnutella Client sections for LimeWire, Phex, FrostWire, BearShare, Gnucleus, Morpheus, and many more. Please choose the correct section for your problem. 7. If you see a post in the wrong forum or in violation of the House Rules, please contact a moderator via Private Message or the "Report this post to a moderator" link at the bottom of every post. Please do not respond directly to the member - a moderator will do what is required. 8. Any impersonation of a forum member in any mode of communication is strictly prohibited and will result in banning. 9. Multiple copies of the same post will not be tolerated. Post your question, comment, or complaint only once. There is no need to express yourself more than once. Duplicate posts will be deleted with little or no warning. Keep in mind a forum censor may temporarily automatically hold up your post, if you do not see your post, do not post again, it will be dealt with by a moderator within a reasonable time. Authors of multiple copies of same post may be dealt with by moderators within their discrete judgment at the time which may result in warning or infraction points, depending on severity as adjudged by the moderators online. 10. Posts should have descriptive topics. Vague titles such as "Help!", "Why?", and the like may not get enough attention to the contents. 11. Do not divulge anyone's personal information in the forum, not even your own. This includes e-mail addresses, IP addresses, age, house address, and any other distinguishing information. Don´t use eMail addresses in your nick. Reiterating, do not post your email address in posts. This is for your own protection. 12. Signatures may be used as long as they are not offensive or sexually explicit or used for commercial advertising. Commercial weblinks cannot be used under any circumstances and will result in an immediate ban. 13. Dual accounts are not allowed. Cannot explain this more simply. Attempts to set up dual accounts will most likely result in a banning of all forum accounts. 14. Video links may only be posted after you have a tally of two forum posts. Failure to show that you have read the forum rules may result in forum rules breach infraction points or warnings awarded against you which may later total up to an automatic temporary or permanent ban. Supplying system details is a prerequisite in most cases, particularly with connection or installation issues. | Are you Serious?? After being on the forums for several days, you don't know the answer to your question?? Have you been to the Limewire site to see what OS's are compatible?? www.limewire.com I would suggest you do a little more home work before posting in the forums.

| c'mon d00d....really....XP is still a fully supported release from M$ which is on the majority of machines in the world (ermm...I think....don't have data to support that claim)... both Vista and Windoze 7 are just extensions of XP with more bloatware....now, that being said, LW no longer supports older OS's like 98, ME, and I think Win2000 and just to be a stickler for semantics, you will have no problems downloading LW...your query should be about installing it and getting it to run

| XP still the most used O/S Without any hard evidence, I believe that XP is still the most used O/S in the world for the following reasons:- 1) Vista bummed, most IT professionals or large organisations do not like or use Vista. The only people that have Vista are those that have recently bought new PCs. 2) XP is the O/S of choice for most Netbook users. 3) Windows 7 has not been released yet but, in order to tempt corporate users, MS promises to incorporate an XP mode within the new O/S. Windows 7's XP Mode: It's almost ready - Software - Breaking Business and Technology News at silicon.com 4) Third world countries prefer their PCs to have XP installed on them rather than any other O/S. If anyone can counter my reasoning then please do. UK Bob |

| not here...you notice I mentioned the concept of bloatware in the newer M$ releases.... its pretty much the concensus that M$ still hasn't come up with anything really new since XP and hence are just adding bells and whistles to it...OK, the Vista and 7 do support more ram (I think....maybe that's just a 64 bit thing), but there is a bit of a workaround for XP that can help if one really wants... supposedly vista has better audio capabilities (so M$ says) but I've seen that argued...of course comebacks to that argument say that devs just haven't taken advantage of the advantages of vista yet...dunno... I for one have no plans on upgrading to vista or 7, if nothing else because my present machines are a bit out of date and would probably suffer if I loaded such a resource demanding OS on them...

| The RAM issue is entirely bit dependent... at least in XP. XP 32bit will not run more than 3.something GB, while XP x64 will run 128GB. Stupid VISTA doesn't show anything more than % of ram used, so I would need to dig a bit more to confirm. I have a VISTA 32bit in for repairs right now, but the processor is 64bit dual core. And I have a VISTA x64/XP x64 dual boot on my new laptop. I don't know if a 64bit system is enough to allow more RAM in VISTA/Windows7. Maybe someone else knows more? |

| Peerless, love your use of 'M$'. Vista seemed like it was nothing more than a bunch of bells and whistles. Someone should have told Bill that we don't by pcs to play with the OS and stare at the desktop. My gf uses Win7, after a few years with XP, and seems to like it (I haven't asked her why). She's a PhD in Linguistics; uses pc for large docs and photo editing. I'm awaiting more bug fixes, etc. My friend in Security says not enough hackers have attacked Win7 to point out the holes that are probably there and just not discovered yet. He designs cutting edge security systems with large data streams from cameras and sensors, and he installs only on XP or Linux. |

| XP still going strong Guys The one important thing I did miss from my list, number 5 if you will, was that XP still has a huge number of installed users. I must say that I totally agree with Blackhorse 70V when he said: Quote:

| There is such a thing as dual boot. If you need help with that UKBob, then just PM me. I work with these sorts of things almost every day. Supplement income. It may have been a bit unstable in the past, but that is the past. |

| Dual Boot PC Hi Sleepless Thank you very much for your offer but, at the moment, a dual boot PC is not the way I want to go for a home machine. However, it is a good idea that I will bear in mind when my current PC expires, after all I still want to keep my current software and facilities and Windows 7 may have something useful. Anyway, back when I worked in PC maintenance I also had and setup dual boot PCs, but the PCs I setup were WfWG3.11 and NT4. Cheers UK Bob |
