.mov files won't launch

the files seem to download just fine, but when i highlight them and click launch, nothing happens. does anyone know why? is it that my media player doesn't support this file type? WMP usually opens any way with a message telling me that it cannot read the file. but with this .mov file, WMP does not even open. i tried opening WMP and then launching the file, but to no avail....
