Default Error opening file for writing.

Good evening!

I've used Limewire for several years and never before had difficulty in upgrading or loading Limewire. This is a first.

I'm using IE8 and have about 1.5 gb remaining on my disc.

When I initiate my install I receive the following message:

limewire 5.5.14 setup
Error opening file for writing:
click abort to stop the installation. Retry to try again or ignore to skip this file.
Limewire.Ico
c:\Program Files\Limewire\Lib\jMediaFoundation.dll

If I ignore this, the next error is the same with:

c:\Program Files\Limewire\Lib\Limewire.ico

I'm not certain what I've done wrong. I tried suspending SpyDoctor, but that hasn't helped.

I would be most grateful for any advice.

Thank you!

You know VV, 1.5Gb of disc space does not seem like very much, I would strongly suggest that you either delete or archive off some of your data from your C:\ drive to an external hard drive.

Try to create at least 6 - 10GB of unfragmented space on your C:\ drive, download the off-line version of Limewire and try installing it again.

Try this technique: Reinstallation Technique. Also right-click installer & set to Run as Administrator.

Default Thanks

Thank you Bob!

I'll work on clearing out the cobwebs this evening and see if I can obtain some success in my endeavours. I was surprised to see that the disc was so full. I wiped out the cache, temp files, etc and I cleared all of the restore points with little success. I'm not quite sure what's in here to use up the space as I typically have never stored any films, Youtube, etc.

Thank you again. I'll have a shot.

Go to Run type %temp% OK
Delete those files sometimes they can take allot of you HD space, most should delete, there may be a few that you can't delete just click skip on those...
