Hi - I'm new to Limewire, so my first question is probably a bit simplistic...
I wondered if someone could tell me what the '#' symbol actually represents. According to the FAQ/Help pages it is the number of identical files, which I presumed meant the number of on-line users (hosts) that had that file. But if I right click on the file name I can choose to 'browse host'. If #=25, say, how does it decide which of the 25 hosts to browse? Thanks. MLS |

Lol......I've once asked the same question.
Actually no-one knows for sure. The general guess is that LW will take the very first it can browse (because not all host have chat enabled-which seems to help when trying to browse-, or are behind firewalls).... ![]() Almost forgot, the # symbol means indeed the amount of hosts connected to the network with an identical file (in name, size, and type)

Thanks FooloftheHill - So, not as helpful/useful as it could be then! Even less so when it comes to blocking hosts who share fake files (eg adverts or links to porn websites). MLS

so would it be better to have a lower number for the '#' thing?
