Actually, I just got it to work by right clicking it and disabling visual themes (under preferences>compatablity). I haven't had to do it to any older versions of LW, but it has worked on a few other programs before. Still not sure why it works though.

mine isn't opening either tried removing java and limewire and installing them again and turning off my antivirus software but I still have had no joy

What version of Java and LW??
Did you uninstall all Java version before installing with the JRE offline installer??

Deleted everything off then did as you posted earlier installed Java offline and then limewire

I assume that you got your LW (you didn't answer my question about the versions) from the official LW website?!:
http://www.limewire.com/ Maybe your pc doesn't like the Java. You could try to install a previous version of it: http://java.sun.com/products/archive/ Since you've read through my posts here, I guess you've checked as well any interference possibility by antivirus and or spyware programs?!
