Well that report contradics itself as if you look further down to were it says:
Also see this page which details what most of the above programs bundle. This page has a similar list of clean/not clean programs.

Limewire is listed there as clean http://www.p2pconsortium.com/index.php?showtopic=1950

I run 3 different spyware apps and not one of them has ever detected limewire as having any type of spyware.....

RC

If is is true that LW contains spyware, can you list the spyware/adware or whatever it does contain?

Please bare in mind that we are talking about LW V4.9.xx onwards.

With the version the has spyware stay away from it and you will be fine. All versions over that one has never had spyware and I doubt it will include spyware again. LimeWire is a great program depending how you use it. If you download a virus it's not LimeWire's fault so don't come here complaining and saying that it's limewire's fault. I told you that because when someone downloads a virus some people start saying it's LimeWire's fault.

I have obviously touched a raw nerve. I'm sorry if I offended anyone. I was not suggesting that I have experienced popups or spyware on Limewire. But then again, I would really know if it does have spyware because am not an expert.

All I was showing was that, at the very least, in the past Limewire has contained sypware. (see eg http://mywebpages.comcast.net/robotarmy/ and cut and paste below and TVsFrank's post in the link in Wondering Why's post). I'm sure you would all agree that Shivy should be aware of this to be able to make an informed choice as to whether s/he wants to install it or install a program that has never been reported to contain spyware.

My advice to Shivy would be to also read this link: http://forums.spywareinfo.com/index.php?showtopic=60955
and install the free antivirus/firewalls etc to start with.

wondering why July 20th, 2006 04:41 PM

I think what you are failing to relise is that Limewire 3.6.14 is such an old version and yes in those days it did contain spyware...
As UK Bob pointed out:: Please bare in mind that we are talking about LW V4.9.xx onwards.
So what we are trying to say is that there is no Spyware in Limewire, so mentioning such an old version is actually Pointless, as shivy wants to know if there is Spyware contained in Limewire now....
