Open your task manage then cancel a download and see how much memory it is using. It sounds like you are running of of ram. If you are running windows you can open the task manager by pressing and holding Ctrl+Alt then push delete. Look at the bottom of the task manager where it says commit change and see how much total ram you are using and how much is available
