Getting FINISHED using LimeWire

Well, after finally figuring out what was happening and finally being able to watch/listen to downloads, I come across the following:

1. If the video download worked, it sends me to about 5 different porn sites
2. If the download worked, it is full of viruses or worms!:(
3. The downloads are NOT in fact what I was looking for.
4. I click on a selection to download and it gives me the message 'content removed'
etc etc

Does this work for anyone???? What a waste of my money and a Sunday afternoon!

Will NOT be recommending to anyone. I'm off to invest my money elsewhere and hopefully legally.

What a shame. Very disappointed. I was expecting sooo much more in regards to eficiency, ease of use and selection of downloads.

1. Check a video before download with Bitzi. If a file's been rated you'll get an idea of it's quality & content. Preview a download after say 5% to check the contents!!
How to use Bitzi

2. Be careful when downloading. The whole Gnutella network has files which are infected, it's not just a LW problem.
WARNING: Viruses on the network you should be aware of

3. See point 1.

4. Never seen the message 'content removed'... that's a new one!

It's a good idea to use LW basic (which is free) first, before spending money on Pro;)

You seem like one of those people that don't have the faintest idea of what they are doing, so instead of asking questions you make bold statements based on little or no knowledge.

On second thoughts, I agree with Peerless, you are just a paid Hench woman (or maybe a paid cross dresser) sent here to spread misleading propaganda.

peerless and UK Bob - WTF?? I have no idea what you are talking about. Nobody has paid me to use this program. I paid my own good money to download it! Henchwoman? Crossdresser?? Sticks and stones... etc I am not 'full of myself' If you must know, I currently live in Queensland but have lived all over the country due to my career in the defence force (actually doing something useful for my country instead of picking on new people in a forum)

As I probably said earlier in my original post (but if I didn't here it is again) Thanks to NO help form the forum with my problems and bounced emails to 'support' I am dissatisfied with the product. It was recommended to me, but unfortunately it doesn't work for me.

What a shame that you 'experienced' losers (oops users) could not offer some decent, helpful advice to maybe encourage me to persevere or give me some tips and assist me in the use of the program instead of being horrible and downright rude. Perhaps I was correct in my first assessment and should leave the product and it's users alone.

Thanks for nothing.

I just had a look at the other 2 posts I made today asking for help and lo and behold - no help still after nearly 8 hours! Funny how I got more responses to this thread than the ones asking for help! Does this help illustrate my point any more??

Is ANYONE willing to help or are you all just like the two above?

PS thanks Birdy for your post. Will look into the links you provided.

Sleepless did try to help you. In between him going offline & somebody else stepping in, you wrote your post in this thread (your 3rd) stating that you were finished with LW. Well, given your statements here... should somebody still have replied to your second post? You made it pretty clear that you weren't interested in using LW any more!!(your first post was ignored as double posting is against the forum rules, just because it's very confusing to have 2 threads going about the same topic;))

This is a forum of volunteers. We give our time to help people for little or no thanks. Peerless & UK Bob are fantastic members who have helped hundreds of people. When someone jumps onto the forum to have a rant about how hopeless they think LW is , it tends to p*ss people off.Understandably.

If you lose the attitude, you'll find that there are some really great people here who are more than willing to help with any problems you might have.

groovegoddess August 27th, 2006 03:24 AM

If those two are examples of fantastic members, how nasty does everyone else get in here? I DID ask questions as you are supposed to on the forum, I DIDN'T get any help! (as I would have expected from a forum) What right have people to call me names? Ask me if I am full of myself because of my nationality? What has being Australian have to do with being in the mafia??? Maybe their posts are some sort of 'in joke' you play on newbies? If so, I'm not laughing. I am offended. If that's the way the volunteers on here behave, no wonder your efforts are rewarded with 'little or no thanks'!! Maybe they should lose their 'attitude' My supposed one came about from a lack of help from both the forum and from customer 'support' and was fuelled by the nasty comments made here. I did thank you for your previous reply birdy in my last post.
My 'rant' has got responses, but still not much positive advice or direction. Which is what I was looking for way back this afternoon when I posted for HELP.

On some forums you don't get responses for many days or weeks. And sometimes not at all. When I joined this forum I was keen to change that. To expect a response in minutes or even a couple of hours is a little ambitious. Particularly considering Australian time is when people from other continents are sleeping or working, so the forums tend to be a little quiet over those times. There still tends to be helpers on the forums over those times however.

Tips for videos: Movie download issues

To learn more about why there's some problems with the gnutella network (being spammed) & some tips, then see this: About the spam on the gnutella network with fake, corrupt, & virus ridden files

And don't forget to do this: See Arrange search results by size (click on link) & learn to use the Junk filter to filter out basic spam. Files less than 2,000 KB (2 MB) are generally spam or viruses. ;) :)

BTW I answered your previous thread. :)

Peerless August 27th, 2006 06:58 AM

wow...yet another person just out to test ppl..and that's plain...the words you use explain it all...you are obviously very experienced at what you do, which is to fake identities...buzz off and go elsewhere (like maybe the store to legally purchase things)
