How to download anonymously

Hi,

I am new to limewire, how do I download files anonymously, so as to leave no trace of my computer?

I have seen info about proxy servers, but I know nothing about them.

Any help greatly appreciated.

You should read up on how the internet works, there are various sites on the web that explains it as simply or as complex as you want it.

However, anonymous downloading and browsing is not really possible as long as you have to go via an ISP.

a proxy is as anonymous as you can get....but the long arm of the law, or a hacker, can probably still ID you by researching the server logs of the proxy...the law will use a subpeona and the hacker will break into the server...

So can I assume that anybody who fileshares/downloads on limewire for music, videos, etc, does so, knowing the chances of being caught are very slim?

@johnno1978...you are using p2p technology for totally legal purposes and have no need to use a proxy...if for some reason a member of the MAFIAA decides to sue you, then you would be able to counter sue for harassment....

per my usual fashion, I will let you use Google to find free trial versions...

using Winrar you can compress your files and password protect them...

the compress .rar file can then be shared and you can call your brother up and tell him the password needed to open it...if you choose a complex password, then the odds of '********' it are pretty low..hint: do NOT use a word in the dictionary!

as far as cheap download sites for music, wouldn't have a clue..and I would refuse to advise one as that is basically spamming/advertising for a for profit service, which this forum does not condone...
