before i set up limewire...

Hey,
Ive never before used limewire and know nothing about it really. i was just wondering if i set it up can other people get to all the files on my computer? Is it possible to stop them from doin this because i dnt want ppl to b able to c my pictures and word documents etc....thnx for the help
