Lost and confused!!

Hi I'm new to LW and am having a hard time with it !!! I saw a note from
Birdy that said to send the details when asking a question so here goes
(to the best of my knowledge!!) OS--XP Pro-----Firewall--MS Win---448MB Ram--33.8 GB--HD----BB internet--comtrend Brand Modem--I'm
working from Home--I am running LW4.14.2 & Java1.6--ISP ALLTELL (Alaska) tried the test and got "Web page cannot be displayed " I am not sharing a conection---This is my first try with LW--I do have the wall with the globe behind it--I am using a DSL Modem but I am not sure how it is set up ( I plug it in and viola' ) my anti virus is " The Shield Antivirus "
I'm in the good ol USA. I down loaded over 48 hrs ago and for a trial search typed in [edit]and NOTHING has happened yet!! I can use all the Help I can get!!!!!! Thanx

Usually when your when you get "Page cannot be Displayed" it means that your ISP has some sort of Bandwidth shaping against p2p apps...

But if you can tell me the model number for your Comtrend modem, I'll have a look and see if it has a Nat Firewall...

In the mean time you could give these a try...

Try uninstalling all versions of Java from the add/remove programs and then re-install the JRE 5.11 offline version....
Archive: Download Java 2 Platform Standard Edition (J2SE) 5.0 Update 11

Also try deleting your preference folder/s...

You do have a Nat Firewall within your modem as well...

Well I tried the Port forwarding and made it all the way to login/ password
for the modem and got stopped--- When this got set up the phone company came in and set it up and I don't have the password etc. I think I'll just wait untill I get back Home and set up from there. I am working away from Home right now and trying to set this up at my Apartment. I just get to frustrated :-( Thanx for the Help!!
