Yes, I download everything to my external HDD.
I'm guessing your D drive is just another HDD??
As long as it's not used for Recovery or something like that.

Hi Remoc
My D drive is the one with “my documents” that type of thing.
It’s not an external drive. I’m afraid my external one broke, after just one year!
Avoid buying Seagate. They come with those screws with the stud sticking out of them so it really is a task to get them open.

Back on the subject of the D drive, mine is the permanent one. Basically even if I were to re-start my computer from scratch (like after a virus or something) it’s the drive that retains all the files.

Is it the case then that I shouldn’t download onto this drive?

I think it will be fine. Sounds like you have some room to spare, so go for it.
As far as HDD's are concerned, I prefer Western Digital.

All of my downloads (mostly movies) go to D: I later move them to E: so they won't be fragmented (saves a lot of space and makes for quicker burn to DVD). I got really tired of trying to defrag D: after a few movie downloads.

Remember to check your Incomplete folder for olde stuff that you thought you deleted (in LimeWire, under "Library" tab, select "Incomplete" from the left panel). While there, you can also choose to resume downloads you may have forgotten about. Be sure to get rid of any "Preview" files (created if you previewed any downloads).
