Hi
I cannot get my head around the purpose of the Incomplete Files Folder. Also the music tracks I play etc build up in the folder causing drive storage space to decrease quite rapidly. What is the purpose of the folder and how do I get entries in the folder to delete automatically? Thanks.

The Incomplete folder keeps one from trying to play a song or movie that has not finished downloading. When finished, the file should automatically move to your shared folder. Only a record of the file should remain in the Inc folder, so LW can keep track of what you've dl'd. Sometimes the complete file remains in the Inc folder (even after being copied to Shared). So you have to clean up the folder every so often. You can also get rid of partial downloads that were cancelled but remain in Inc.
If you Preview a file it will play from a preview copy in the Inc folder. The copies remain in the folder until I go in and delete them; hence I seldom preview. |

Hi
Thanks. What you suggested is what I do. I think it would be a good idea if completed files could auto delete after a day or so though. Maybe someone who programmes the system could look at it sometime. I have been using Limewire for a few years now and have not really had any problems with it at all. I think that it is the best music file sharing system around. Cheers.

My preferred method of previewing files is to go to LW Library window -> incomplete folder & find the file in question & press Launch button. By doing that it stops a preview file being created. This is especially efficient for video files which of course are much larger in size.

The incomplete folder also of course picks up junk file listings you may choose to download accidentally at times. Also for some odd reason, LW creates a second incomplete file for some downloads & ignores the first, which has been an issue ever since I've used LW since version 2.And yes as suggested by Blackhorse 70V, there are those odd but not common occasions a completed file doesn't transfer from incomplete folder to your completed download folder. |
