Continued problem (infected files) I've tried to download several songs and even after one showed it contained some sort of Trojan, I tried again last night with a different song. But when I tried to play it in Media Player I get a message that " The file you are attempting to play has an extension (mp3) that does not match the format. Playing it may result in unexpected behavior. When I say open it anyway get a window wanting me to save a file mp3codec.exe. I will not do this. I've used Limewire before on occasion but NEVER had any issues like this. I searched the forums but find that also very confusing. I've updated to the latest Limewire version but can't figure out what is going on. I've noticed several very small files with like 300 or 400 bites and one of those had the Trojan. Any idea what I'm doing wrong or is this a normal issue and I should just stop using Limewire. I am using Vista Home Premium but doubt that would be the problem? I would appreciate any idea that would help clear this up. Thanks. |
Virus thread: Typical virus spam file sizes - Make a note of them (click on blue link to see). Look around the forums. Look at the stickies at top of sections, that is what they are there for. These questions are already answered at top of the Download/Upload Problems section. ;) |
Thanks. That's some help. I found the site rather hard to navigate. It's shame that some choose to make it so hard for others. |
Use the Forum Jump menu below. :) That lists all the forum sections. ;) http://www.gnutellaforums.com/welcom...tml#post333116 click on blue link As for your question, it's a matter of learning to recognise spammed junk, and yes, that may take a little time. The example images shown in that link I gave earlier gives a good starting point. You may also wish to add certain words to your keyword filter, check Direct instructions to eliminate porn from results & the sub-link provided in that post points to 'other' types of spam it can help remove from search results. :) |
