Is their something wrong with my LW?

I have had limewire basic since July '08 and have downloaded 50+ songs from it perfectly. But last night at 12:00 midnight, I tried to search for 3 fairly common songs from the 1980s but I had no luck. So I tried again the next morning at 11 and still no luck. I noticed that all the connection bars were green but the world had a brick wall on it. I thought usually even with the brickwall it still works? So, I deleted the entire limewire and made sure it was out of my PC, then I re-downloaded it. I did my 3 searches again and still no luck (this time at 2pm). The connection bars were green but the world had a brickwall. Is their something wrong that I'm not aware of? I have limewire basic 4.18.8 and my PC is an HP Pavilion dv9000.

Here were my searches:

"sparrows and nightingales"
"getta outta my dreams and into my car"
"on the tray - sandra"
"for tamme"

BTW, what are some tips to help your PC run well and not be prone to viruses with limewire?

thanks

LOTR 'bumps' smallwonder85's hips & laughs. :)

Long list of tips lol :D

1. File sizes & duplicate naming techniques to beware: Virus thread: Typical virus spam file sizes - Make a note of them (click on blue link to see)

2. Direct instructions to eliminate porn from results & follow 'both' links in that post for terms to filter out. You may find more to filter out but be careful they do not compromise with any searches you do. ;)

Yes, the firewall icon could be due to one of a number of things:

3. Make sure you added limewire to your windows or whichever firewall you're using exception list. http://www.gnutellaforums.com/connec...-firewall.html

4. System details - help us to help you (click on blue link) in case you still have firewall icon. In meantime, some things to try are listed here If LW Will Not Connect (click on the blue link), such as performance & speed options. ;)

Not sure what your post has to do with the topic.

Try files from a different source. Download from a different person & see if same problem. Also, check the files with a different player, since there are more capable players for OSX than iTunes (or LW's media player); I'd recommend both ToolPlayer & Switch, Alternate Audio Players & support plug-ins. ToolPlayer is very simple player but can play a wide range of music formats. Switch is a converter but can also play a reasonable range of formats. ;)

Hi, I'm a newbie and I hope I'm in the right place. On another computer I had limewire and used it with no problems. I now have a computer I won, I d/l LW last night and couldn't wait to start d/l new songs and start listening...except that the limewire symbol wasn't next to any of the songs going down the list...when I did click on one, it says they are unable to find a license for the one I've clicked on. What have I done?? What can I do to fix this? Help.....

Blackhorse thanks for the link, not to sound all goody goody LOL but isn't downloading copywrite illegal?

It is generally unlawful to reproduce copyrighted material without consent of the owner.
There is much content on the Gnutella network that is not copyrighted, or the owner consents to reproduction.

So I'm still lost. I don't know if I'm behind a firewall or if it wasn't d/l correctly, all I know is I'm not seeing a limewire 'icon' or the stars that are to the left of the songs, like I did on my old computer. Would it make a difference if the old one was windows xp and the new one is vista??
