Can't open LW

Ok I'm pretty computer savy. I run XP professional in my company of 12 computers, 4 have LW already installed. I downloaded LW5.12 and installed like always, but it won't open. IT SEEMS like I am NOT the only one from the previous threads. SO SOMETHING ISN"T RIGHT AT LIMEWIRE.
I have updated Java, uninstalled then reinstalled LW5.12, tried to load classic LW, rebooted 50 times etc,.... It's not my firewall, it's not McAfee, it's not my sonicwall, it's not my ISP, nor my computer becasue it's 1 day old. It's a problem with LIMEWIRE. Please address this problem because I counted 40+ people who have the EXACT SAME THING

Make sure each LW is not using the same listening port. But if you cannot open it, right-click change compatibility mode to either Windows 2000 or NT (try both) & set to run as Admin.

We're just a forum here. And we are volunteers. :)

Considering the many millions of LW users, the numbers of people who will have problems will always be there. It's also not uncommon for a network of identically set up computers that LW refuses to work or connect on one of them. :D

How many firewalls you have there, sounds like at least two.

I have both Windows firewall and McAfee but it doesn't matter. The program doesn't start. It fails to start and I've tried all available fixes. Could there be a resident issue from uninstalling? Could my registry have a conflict? Could the program be missing a key item?

Alcohol is apparently something that clashes. http://www.gnutellaforums.com/genera...w-opening.html.

You could try these options: http://www.gnutellaforums.com/333278-post2.html However use the installer you already have for LW 4, not the one in that post.

A possibility to try is create a new account, a test account, install LW there to see if it opens. That will at least tell us if the problem is account related.
