pls help- torrent conversion

Hi

I have downloaded dvdrip file on limewire torrent, how do i convert torrent file to viewable dvd format.please help

What format is it? Do the files have mkv file extension or something like that? Or are they TS_VIDEO folders?

Are you asking how to view the files on your computer or how to burn to dvd so you can view on your TV?
Ah .. double-post. I merged your threads.
Is this any help: http://www.gnutellaforums.com/tips-t...ps-tricks.html :)

N Also It Shows Avi In Limewire.

Are you sure about that file extension? I'm not sure I've ever seen one. Are you sure it's not the original torrent you downloaded from a site? Otherwise attempts to open would not prompt LW to redownload it.

Go to LW's Library, find the file you downloaded, Select it, press Explore button or right-click & choose Locate File on Disk depending on whether you are using LW 4 or 5. If using LW 5, then the last action will point you directly to the file in question. ;) http://www.gnutellaforums.com/gettin...disk-tool.html

Ah .. I just realised .. yes .. your windows system is 'hiding' your file extensions. The actual ending of the filename is .***.torrent .. so you are actually attempting to open the torrent you downloaded from a site in order to download via LW. Thus, follow my instructions in my previous post. :)

****[***]DvDrip[Eng.Subs]-kirklestat.4238740.***. this is what it shows and when it starts downloading again in limewire, the extension it shows is avi. so im totally clueless. should i use convertx or what do i do?

1st order of business:

READ THE DAMNED RULES OF THIS FORUM....AND FOLLOW THEM...

next...maybe you should actually download the file first, then worry about conversion...what you have is just the torrent file which allows you to acquire the .avi file you are really after....I'm thinking you will also need either a codec pac (I use the Klite codec pac..google it) or the VLC player....

richa May 26th, 2009 04:50 AM

well i followed your instructions but then it asks me in the LW to overwrite.

How do i view this file?

richa May 26th, 2009 04:53 AM

Hmmm understood.Thanx.

Lord of the Rings May 26th, 2009 04:55 AM

Which version of LW are you using?
If you followed my instructions, Locate File on Disk, the folder your downloaded file is in would open, the file would be highlighted & selected ready to open. That is of course, if you have in fact downloaded the file. Does it say AVI file in that folder after doing the Locate FIle on Disk option? Check the file size. What is the file size?

Peerless May 26th, 2009 04:56 AM

well hopefully lotr can give you some directions as to how to use LW as a torrent client...what you have at this moment, IMO, is just the torrent file...

what size is it?....~10KB?

the file you mentioned (which I edited out of your post..the LOTR edited again ) should be around 740MB and take anywhere from an hour (@200KB/s) to infinity to download....it will be dependent upon the speed you get from whatever sources you get connected to....

richa May 26th, 2009 05:04 AM

well i guess i have downloaded the torrent coz after following the instructions- to locate file on disk, it shows ***.Torrent. and the file size is 29kb. so shouls i overwrite this by avi extension when it asks me to do so?

richa May 26th, 2009 05:08 AM

well guess i have downloaded the torrents coz after locating file on disk, it still shows ***.Torrent. im using LW5 version and the file size is 29kb. should i overwrite it with avi when it ask me to do so while opening again in limewire.

Lord of the Rings May 26th, 2009 05:12 AM

How did you get a hold of this .*** torrent file? Did you download it from a site (do NOT tell me which one, I already know) or did you download this torrent file via LW?

If via LW, it means you have in fact not actually downloaded the video file. Only the torrent to begin the video download. Those are starter torrents .. not sure of the correct name, perhaps Peerless can help there, but you open that file with your torrent program then it will download the file you are wishing.

Peerless May 26th, 2009 05:15 AM

I've seen plenty of .torrent files on gnutella, so my guess is that is where it came from...and therein lies this users confusion....
