Installation problem: during the installation an error box pops up, "Could not open input file for splittet files" I go to install Limewire and everything seems to be going well, but during the installation an error box pops up and it says, "Could not open input file for splittet files." I have no idea what that means. I have Mozilla Firefox internet, Java installed(as requested), Windows Vista. Please help. |
1. Try this technique http://www.gnutellaforums.com/333278-post2.html. For Vista, you need to right-click installer & choose Run as Administrator. And do the same with the LW shortcut after installing. :) 2. Also try installing into a different location, unless that's inconvenient. ;) |
downloard problems hello. this is my first post :) I have Kaspery and I think my computer is 64 (instead of 32). I am experiencing the same splittet problem and was wondering if anyone had any idea how to have Kaspery and limewire. thank you!! |
Kaspery? Do you mean Kaspersky security? If answer is yes, disable Windows firewall & add LW to the Kaspersky firewall exceptions under Filtration rules .. make a sub-rule for each of TCP & UDP. ;) For installing LW, follow my advice in my previous post above. ;) |
Thanks, but it didn't work. |
|
Thanks for all the help, but my mom came home and got it to work. haha. After all im only 15, somethin about the Kaspersky blockin it...oh well. :) |
I have the same antivirus and am unableto download lw beccaues of a splittet file could you help.thank you |
I also have the splittet problem & I'm not 15. That's closer to the number of years I've been on the internet. I have Kaspersky & limewire is allowed in the exceptions. I have Vista, Java 1.6, & I've been trying to update to LW5 all day & night. It seems no matter what I do it keeps stopping at the "splittet" error. Here's what comes up when I click details after getting the error: Extract: torrent.dll... 100% Output Folder: C:\Program Files\LimeWire\root Output Folder: C:\Program Files\LimeWire\root\magnet10 Extract: badge.img... 100% Extract: canHandle.img... 100% Extract: limewire.gif Extract: options.js... 100% Extract: silentdetect.js... 100% Output Folder: C:\Program Files\LimeWire Does anyone have any ideas? I've already deleted preferences. |
Have you tried right-clicking the installer, choose Run as Administrator, Then when asked where to install, choosing a different location rather than the default. Perhaps create a custom folder within program folder & calling it Limewire 5.2 & install there, or even installing it to a different partition. |
I tried moving it out of C and under my name below desktop, still the same problem. Any more suggestions? I would like to get updated, especially since I've deleted everything in my quest. |
If you've tried everything in the links in the two posts above, then ... go to Start menu -> All Programs -> LW -> Uninstall ... if that option is there. In any case, run CCleaner again. Then get this version described here & follow the instructions: Download ‘Other’ version & simply unzip & use!. The link is now called Other Systems (OS/2, Solaris, Linux) from here Get LimeWire for Your Platform - Lime Wire |
Success! Yes!, Thank ya Lord :):D |
Can someone tell me how to disable the Dangerous download cancelled feature in Limewire Basic? Thanks. |
disabling dangerous downloads tools, options, 1st configure button will bring up the choices you seek, though I don't know why you'd seek them. Careful, lotsa viruses out there.:w00t: |
Thanks, I have security/Virus software already installed on my Computer So i should be fine. I downloaded files on my old Cpu years ago with the old limewire basic and no security software installed and never had any problems. Anyways,Thanks cause i've lost like 10-20 300MB video downloads already because Limewire would wait for them to finish downloading then erase them... Thanks Bro. |
