Complicated Fixes!!

Why is it that every time I download and RE-download Limewire, it installs but then only shows the little square intro thing that says "Squeezing limes" and nothing else happens. I have been looking on this site everywhere for fixes and have tried everything except for the seriously complicated fixes. Shouldn't LW be easy to install? I am so frustrated! I just want to download some music. :(

Varies on each person's computer. Generally a java issue .. or conflict with another program.

Do you run Alcohol btw?

Try this process: http://www.gnutellaforums.com/333278-post2.html which is basically cleaning up your registry, getting rid of older versions & parts of any older versions that might still be lingering in registry & causing problems. ;)

No, I don't run "Alcohol"

And I just wasted another hour of my life because I did everything on that list and it did not work. Please. I am tearing my hair out.

what I would do is give up and try another client...

like Phex...

Downgrading to LimeWire 4 from 5 & resuming incomplete downloads (ignore the download preferences moving points, just the first point for the LW 4.16 link)

... else http://www.phex.org/wiki/index.php/Get_Phex <- Get Phex here!

BTW have you tried setting up a Test user account to see if LW runs in that account? A test account on your computer can be deleted easily & quickly. :)

Yes, unfortunately some programs do take some mucking around on 'some' people's systems to get running. Especially java based programs. But not only those.

The life of computers lol :D Some software on 'some' systems can be a hard & long time getting them to run.  :w00t:

I will try Phex.. Thanks.

Only thing is, I've had LW in the past, I switched to it when Bearshare got put on lockdown, and it always worked fine, until I decided to upgrade to the newest version of LW, now I can't even get the old version back.

I'm not even going to continue with LW. I do hope that whoever is in charge of it fixes whatever major glitches it has. :shoot:

Well as suggested .. you 'can' get an old version of LW in the first link I gave in post #5 if you bothered to click that link. ;)

Abbib August 4th, 2009 10:46 AM

Actually, I did click that link, and for some reason it defaulted itself to the new version again. I have tried several different ways to get back to the old version and it never lets me.

LW have removed their 'Old Versions' page from their site. You can get LW 4.16 from the link I gave. :)
