Default error message after dnld.

Hello,

I'm getting this error message after each dnld " Done but unable to scan for viruses". Does this new version have a virus scan and or should I just ignore it?

Thanks,
fdiphill

Are you using Pirate Edition? If so, are you using File_Girl71's version: http://www.gnutellaforums.com/359817-post3.html or the original as posted by metapirate: http://www.gnutellaforums.com/359709-post1.html?

I think a few people have had probs with AVG not working properly in the original version. File_Girl's version does not include AVG.

If you already have a good AV installed, keep it updated & use that to scan files after download & before opening the file.

File downloads AV checking can be disabled in LW's settings. I cannot remember which option tab it's under, perhaps under Transfers or miscellaneous. ie: for Windows: LW's menu bar, Tools -> Options ...

Hi Botox and Birdy,

Yes I am using the Pirate version, should I be using another version that will help with the scanning of files? I tried looking for the options to see if it was unchecked but had no luck. I think it's great to have LM back and see old friends on ther forum!

Thanks,
fdiphill

I've been using File_Girl's version (without AVG) but just installed the original Pirate Edition. I'm seeing the same error.

After installing, LW used to download AVG's latest definitions. Which the Pirate Edition didn't do. An error message tells me that the virus scanner is still downloading it's first set of virus definitions.
Maybe AVG is broken in PE.

Did AVG ever work in your PE?

Might be easier for you to use your own AV to scan files. If it's annoying you to see the error, you can uncheck the scan option (tools > options > transfers > uncheck 'scan files I download for viruses' > ok) then you shouldn't see the 'unable to scan' message.
