Default Delay

My Gnotella works fine, but there is like a 5-10 second delay on any thing I do. I mean, just clicking around, and sliding the ba. I have 192 MB RAM and everything else on my comp works just fine. any ideas?

See if decreasing the number of hosts to "Keep up" on the Hosts page helps.

Also, before you start Gnotella, press Ctrl+Alt+Del, look at the list that pops up, and see if there are any programs running in the background that you don't need running at the moment. Click "End task" for each of those (leave "Explorer" and "systray" alone though).

That'll free up some resources.

Question delays

I've been using Gnotella 0.9.7 and 0.9.9 for months on Wi*** with plenty of DRAM and the delays keep getting worse, several minutes. I can't kill off too many tasks because ISP Prodigy keeps three tasks running. Gnotella is just about useless any more. HELP

Three things:

1) How many files are you sharing? I only share about 40 now - the more shared the slower the program. I shared my whole hard drive once to see what would happen and the program came to a grinding halt.

2) I only keep up about 5 servers now.

3) When all else fails completely shutdown your computer and run Scandisk when it restarts. You might find a few bad sectors on your disk which are causing problems.

That could explain it. I've been sharing about 1200 or 1400 files. Will try a much smaller number. Why can the code can only deal with a small number of shared files?

Question

Hi

Canīt be the whole truth. Iīm sharing 300 files. At start everything works fine. Then most times gnotella semms to freeze (all CPU-time wasted in Afiledb). But sometimes - without doing anything - the program recovers, everything works as it should.

I also observed, decreasing the number of items in the download list (there at any time several not finished downloads) has an significant effect, too.

And what does Afiledb do anyway. I closed that once, Gnotella worked on as before (I canīt see any difference) without anymore delays (no wonders since my cpu was running hot only in this program and no wonder more memory wonīt help).
