Post TROJAN's on Gnutella network: My experience READ THIS

There must be hundreds and thousands of you who are unaware that your being spyed upon by nasty TROJAN programs placed upon your systems without your knowledge by hackers. They could be on your systems right now and you wouldn’t even know it. They could be looking thru your directories and files, reading your financial information, getting your credit card info, reading your emails and your documents or setting your system up to be a host for a major attack against a big corporation or worst. Did you know they could even be watching you while you are at your computer? Do you have a web cam? Just image this for a second. A hacker is in your system and your just casually going about your business and he turns on your web. Who do you think he will see? YOU!

Why am I writing this note? Well I just spent 3 days removing the SUBSEVEN Trojan otherwise known as BACKDOOR-g22 and my system is also infected with the PORNDIAL5 Trojan. I got my infected .ZIP file from the Gnutella network in just under a week of trying the service. I was stupid. I neglected to install a good Trojan scanner on my win2k machine and by opening this .zip file infected my entire system. I was lucky, I caught the infection before anyone could hack my system but some of you out there may not be so luck .You need to get yourselves a good Trojan scanner capable of detecting Trojans before some hacker gets you. While Mcafee is a virus scanner IT IS NOT a Trojan scanner and may or may not detect the presence of a Trojan on you computer. So don’t think your safe by using a Norton or Mcafee.

PORNDIAL5 -: This Trojan is a scary one in that if your using a modem to dial into the Gnutella network and you have this Trojan on you computer your in for a huge telephone bill and I mean huge. Mcafee will detect this one but its relatively new and nobody knows much about it. All they know is that it calls 900 numbers and racks up a huge phone bill. If you have a modem connection your in danger but if your using DSL/CABLE your relatively safe. I also have this one on my system and still have one instance of it to remove. I don’t download porn and I don’t visit porn sites and I have not found the zip file that this Trojan could have come from yet but I suspect I got it from somewhere on gnutella.

With that said I am concerned with the infections on the Gnutella network and feel that if all of us just take
A few precautions we can stop the spread of Trojans and hackers from getting into our systems. If you find an infected file KILL IT! Don’t offer if for download! I have included a few links below to few really good Trojan scanners. One is by an Australian company. Its call TDS-3 Diamond.

aussie, thanks for the information

i also recommend that people get themselves a good firewall..

ZoneAlarm has been rated as the best, free, personal firewall known of by the author of this site: www.grc.com (a software developer, and researcher of internet security)

Ive used zonealarm and the best firewall ive found is ConSeal.
It doesnt have all the cool lookin lights n all that and costs a few bucks but its the absolute best. One could find a crack for it if one were to look in the right places (for all you cheapskates out there)

First all of is you use a "TROJAN" program it doesnt make you a hacker. People do not need to rely on AV software to protect. AV software only protects against KNOWN trojans and etc. Just download safe. If the download looks weird, small in size, only one person has it to offer, etc its probably a "TROJAN".

Now you're just spreading FUD (Fear, Uncertainty, and Doubt). Its really unnecessary. You making out like its a sophiscated process and it takes a mastermind to operate a "TROJAN". Stupid 13 year kids just use them b/c they think they're "hackers" b/c of people like you.

You really need to stop watching the movie "HACKERS". I know Angeline Jolie is hot but the story line is not real!

Took you 3 whole days? All you have to do is search the web for a removal tool or docs.

Downloading porn file sizes @ 323KB is not a smart thing to do.

We all know that now....

Also use a firewall its that simple or just not use shitty Windows and you wont have this problem at all. :]

Yeah its called not downloading small files and executing them. Again it does not make you a hacker if you use a "TROJAN".

I hope you mean DELETE the file off of your system.

Well...

If we had to learn everything in life the same way we learn about computers, we'd be pretty ignorant. And a lot of us using progs like Gnotella are probably blessed with a lot of spare time

I use the mentioned, free (software), firewall ZoneAlarm. It goes of ones every hour or so. I'm just assuming that it's something bad waiting to happen when it does, but maybe it's just flashing a false warning so that I'll get impressed with how ZoneAlarm saves my PC...

One way to stay away from trojans is to get out of cyberspace and into reality...hippie crap

I just like using the smily faces, got nothing to say. You all can give me a written spanking instead of sharing knollage (is that how it's spelled?) and files if you want, but what's the point

Default Don't panic

Now come off it!
First of all, nothing happened to your beloved PC, didn't it!
2nd, if you scream that there are people sniffing in your PC, DON'T GO ONTO THE INTERNET!

You must be doing the same, otherwise you wouldn't read and post on GNUTELLA forums, or?

Trojans do NO harm, most of the time.
Only IDIOTS would use a trojan to harm you or your PC.
And then ONLY, if you are a *******, or collecting a lot of kiddy sex porn!
And then your PC should be killed of indeed.

Lots of people use trojans for remote connections to their own and other computers.
It is an amazing tool, and helps to communicate with each other.
The internet is what it initially was said to be: The information super highway.

Don't try to become a cop, directing the traffic! You will only invite people to get you really off the net!

A trojan is NOT a virus. A virus spreads itself, is either totally useless, nasty or destructiv and spreads itself automatically to most, if not all programs on your PC, plus can mail itself to your friends automatically.
They are nasty bits and are smaller and harder to detect than a trojan.

Let the kids play, and have fun and let them learn.
And learn yourself!

Happy surfing

J
