A .zip file, just use 'unzip filename'.
A .tar.gz file, use 'tar -zxvf filename' A .tar.bz2 file, use 'tar -jxvf filename' A .gz file, use 'gunzip filename' a .bz2 file, use 'bunzip2 filename'
