Default Old Version of BShare V 2.5.1.11

Hi I installed BShare V 2.5.1.11 on my comp. several years ago 2001 (?) and BShared successfully until my computer crashed several months ago and I had to reformat my hard drive.

Yesterday, I tried reinstalling using the install .exe file for the same version (this version since one can decline adware installation) but am unable to connect to hosts. Is there an initial login? or registration screen that should appear? I use Windows 2000 and have a cable connection the internet.

Please could you let me know if there is a way to get my old and familiar version of BS that is Adware free working?

Thanks!

R

No current version of any gnutella servent will connect to it anymore.
I'm surprised you managed to keep it going so long after the old 0.4 protocol
was superceded by the 0.6 they all use today.

What you want is the last legitimate beta of BearShare before it was taken
over and sabotaged by the iMesh/RIAA gang. See this thread for the download:
Sticky: BearShare has been sabotaged.

(Being a beta, it's adware free.) ;]

Hi Aaron,

Thanks for responding. I will go with your advice.

My computer had crashed a couple of times over the years, prior before its fatal belly up episode. A friend did the necessary work on it to get it back on. It is possible that he 'upgraded' the version, and I didn't bother to verify. I apologize for unintentionally misleading anyone out there.

Once again, thank you for taking the time to reply,

Ronnie
