It was once rumoured BearFlix only downloaded small videos.
I never bothered to check, because I don't care to use crippled software.

Just downloaded Bearflix, and I can't connect. I tried turning off the firewall and all that and I seem not be able to connect at all with anything I do... Any ideas?

ok, nm, for some reason, I just had to manually browse to the same place. But, sadly, I still can't connect.
I don't get it. My vista firewall is off. I went in and turned my five firewalls off in Norton. Are there any other firewalls that I have to turn off in Norton besides those five in the advanced configuration window? What else am I missing?

Ok, I'm retarded. I downloaded the file, saved it to my "downloads" folder, moved it to the Bearshare DB folder. And to unzip, does that mean to extract all? Because that's what my computer says. I don't have any experience with unzipping folders, lol. So, I tried to extract all the files from the folder. Well, I got a warning saying that "compressed (zipped) folders was unable to create the specified directory. Ensure that the directory does not already exist and that the path entered in valid." C:\Program Files\Bearshare\db\connect. So, I deleted the old "connect" file and tried again. It did the same thing. What wrong?

5 firewalls in Norton's????

norton is THE firewall....go back into it and just delete those instances of BS....while BS is off of course...then start up BS and when Norton's pops up with the queries it gives, allow access....

d00d...you are at a University...I'm pretty sure said institution is blocking p2p traffic...perhaps a conversation with the appropriate people is in order to verify this...

Seriously? No, I'm positive that I've downloaded on my old version of bearshare on my old laptop just fine on this exact same network with no problems. What do you mean "delete those INSTANCES of BS"? "Nortons pops ups" You're really confusing me, lol.

I'm still using an ancient version of Norton's, so I can't say exactly what anything new looks like...in my version when you go into the program control area there is a 'rule' for programs that access the internet....simply highlight all instances of BS, then choose to remove them...then start up BS again and let new rules be created (controlled by your responses to the queries norton's will give)
