Did you type in 192.168.1.1 or www.192.168.1.1 ? No need to put www in front of it. You could also try 192.168.0.3

If neither of those work, then perhaps you do not have access permissions. Perhaps only the network manager has access.

Ok I got it but i had to put http:// then the box opens for user name & password according to port forward I put admin as user & password as password don't work I tried admin1 password, admin 1234,admin1 1234 & others but nothing I tried gets me in.

OK...you have the owner's permission...kewl...I for one refuse to give advice on how to hack a workplace's network...that's not exactly kosher and can get this website shut down with the current laws in place...

in my first response in this thread I advised using PG2...have you done that?

here's the reason I ask...certain companies are being paid to DDOS the network and its users...recently I have noticed a marked increase in the severity of the attacks...now, if you are NOT using PG2 then you are wide open..PG2 will at the very least have a large number of these companies blocked and that will mitigate the effects of these attacks...note I said mitigate...I've been getting attacks at the rate of over 100/s recently from 3 specific organizations....

if you do decide to try PG2, you will notice upon start up of BS that an iMesh connection is attempted...in BS you will notice it as an attempt to connect to BS servers...this connection attempt is to get a list of hosts to be able to connect to....I found that since I don't use BS everyday that allowing this connection to happen (by right clicking on the attempt in PG2 and allowing the connection) results in getting connected quicker and gaining full UP status in minutes....if you use BS daily and are therefor keeping your cache of available hosts up to date then perhaps you need not allow this connection...

again, I can't more strongly advise the use of PG2 when filesharing...

at this point you have been apparently using BS without what I consider proper firewall protection and for all I know these paid henchmen of the RIAA/MPAA have already infected your machine with software/scripts that totally prevent you from getting connected...have you tried connecting using another machine?...it might just be that taking the time to backup data, formatting and doing a clean install might solve your issues...

PG2 is just a mini-firewall made specifically to black a list of certain IP addys...this does not replace a normal firewall rather compliments...i.e. you NEED a real firewall for a lot of reasons, not just using the gnutella network...

You didn't read the link very well. The password is password lol :D
If there's variations of that password, check other models & see what those passwords are for that brand. Sometimes firmware updates or later version routers with updated firmware have different passwords.

Other than that, see Peerless's post.

No matter what I tried I could not get BS back. I asked the outside system guy if I am blocked from anything & he said I was not & no updates were done in the last few weeks since I lost BS. I just have a question for you guys & it may be dumb but I am asking anyway & hope you will answer me. I also had limewire but I never used it because I do not like it however I just went to see if that worked & it does It was limewire 5. My question is how come I can get Limewire & not BS? Is this normal or should I be able to get BS also?

Lord of the Rings June 23rd, 2009 02:01 PM

For a start, BS 5 beta does not have UPnP support, LW 5 does, plus LW has more advanced features for working with firewalls. BS has not been worked on now for several years so the technology is a little behind other still developing gnutella programs. :) LW has a full paid development team.

Check these two thread links see if they help you at all http://www.gnutellaforums.com/host-c...t-connect.html

The beta? http://www.gnutellaforums.com/193742-post1.html ;)

The clock reset function bundled with the "The Last Safe Bearshare Beta" has caused the usual and expected problems on 100% of the last 23 computers on which I have attempted to install it.

These attempts have been exclusively for BS users with a minimum of 3 years 24/7 active experience. A few of them definitely predate almost all of you 'bosses', except Peerless.

So, please, no standard-issue replies for the elbow-typists.

The variety of anti-malware & anti/virus applications in use by the test group is grand - No need to name names because it involves every major program available.

? 1----------- Why are so many of you knowingly advising the masses to install a program ('Last Safe BS Beta') that will, in the great majority of cases, cause problems that are insurmountable for the majority of users? (Yes, simply knowing/remembering to go to the 'clock' setting to correct the date and time IS beyond the capacity of many users and makes many programs ((INCLUDING Windows XP)) go very bad indeed.)
The problem, obviously, is the system clock reset------ Testing it on a variety of machines from 6 years to 3 months old (as far as the 'technology' is concerned), 100% of them had very serious problems with numerous installed programs. Not only A/V apps.

? 2----------- What is the actual file type of the BS-Cache file?
It is NOT a standard WinZIP file.

KGB Archiver is NOT a WinZIP file.
What is difficult about supplying a simple and clean WinZIP or WinRAR file?
The offered BS-Cache file format is inexcusable.

I know that BS is 'dead'.

Please spare any platitudes and just give some straight info, OK?

btw, how about a LOT MORE INFO about those groups who are successfully attacking the Gnutella network?

I hope that you will all encourage users to 1st, regardless of what client they are using, do a search for their own name spelled backwards-----------
After a short time they will see the auto-generated responses from criminal intent servers and be able to make a note of the general file sizes------------- files that are very dangerous.

Above is no rant nor flame.
Just hoping for info on how to use BS--------
OR, please, somebody sound the 'official' death-knell of BS.

Lemmonwire June 30th, 2009 11:29 PM

It caused "serious problem" when installed on 1 or 2 computers , dont make much sense to continue install AND run on another 21 or 22 computers :shoot:

Change to something that work at least as good or better ,
like Shareaza that has Gnutella2 network.

Lord of the Rings July 1st, 2009 01:48 AM

The BS Test will only change clock time for a matter of a few seconds. There is no need to manually change the clock back.

Yes when the clock changes back it does cause issues with some security software, but that's a small price to pay for those who wish to continue using BS. If possible make BS an exception on all security software.

The cache zipped file 'I' supplied, I think was zipped with either the freeware TUGZip or mac osx's zip compressor which should be cross-platform compatible. TUGZip does the same thing as WinRAR & more, but is free. Zip is a more common format than rar, as not everyone has a utility to open rar files. This cache is simply an alternative to the one offered by AW & was offered to help the users in this & another couple of posts since that cache did not appear to work for them, but this one did. File appears to be Zip v.2.0. WinRar, Tugzip & another two extractors I used had no problems with opening that zip file.

More information about those who are attacking the Gnutella network? erm .. there's even a special section on this forum which discusses a part of this & links to other posts discussing about this. Not to mention the thread in question repeated in almost every section of the forums. Did you try the forum search function? :)
A link toward the topic of spam Virus thread: Typical virus spam file sizes - Make a note of them (click on blue link to see). Although this article was written as advice in techniques for LimeWire users, it also applies to all other gnutella clients: How to find music

BTW the same company (MusicLab LLC) that took over Bearshare also 'hijacked' ShareAza, took over their site & their forums. Now the original ShareAza devs have been forced to move to Sourceforge (just weeks ago), which is a site for open source dev projects. Any version of Shareaza above 3 is a fake & is basically identical to iMesh & bearflix. There is a link between MusicLab & the RIAA.
