You don't name the folder with the .lwtp at the end. You only put the .lwtp at the end of the filename for the unzipped file. The folder name should only be anyname_theme.

Are you creating your own skin or did you download one from LimeWire? If you downloaded one from LimeWire(using LimeWire to download it) then you shouldn't have to do anything. When I downloaded a skin from LimeWire it already had the folder for all of the .gifs and .txt file and it was placed in the correct spot.

I've created my own skin, and I've followed your steps to a "t", but Limewire still won't recognise my skins existence. I've tried refreshing it, restarting Limewire, restarting my computer, swearing at the damn thing, but all to no avail!

If you followed the steps that I made in a previous post then I don't understand why it wouldn't work. The LimeWire site really should give more clearer instructions for the skins.

Instead of downloading the Generic_theme from the LimeWire site go into .limewire>theme. If there is a theme called other_theme then use that to create your skin with. I found that the skins I made were easily read by LimeWire when doing it this way. After you're done, just rename the other_theme into whatever you want.

Default A possible fix for problems with file extention changes.

I've finally found a way that works for me, and hasn't given me any problems or headaches with trying to change something to have the .lwtp file extention.... if you're still having problems after following CyberStalker's instructions, no matter what you do - as I was, I had actually completely given up on trying to create a theme for a while... then I got a thought (which is rare for me! lol) and tried something different... I went into the themes folder for limewire and copied one of the .lwtp files to where I had been working on my theme (-copied- NOT moved, incase anyone tries duplicating what I did), renamed it to have the same name as the theme I was working on (leaving the file extention as .lwtp) and then moved the renamed file and the folder for my theme to the limewire themes folder.... lo and behold, it worked!! And without the headache of extention-changes!!

Good luck to anyone working on making themes, and no matter how you do it I hope everything works out for you!!

That's how I made some of my skins. I just made a copy of the .lwtp file and the folder containing the .gifs and renamed it. Then I made alterations on most of the .gif files and volia! I had my new skin!
