Thanks. Sounds like that patch is needed if PFS makes the downloads.dat file even more vulnerable and valuable. I'm guessing the emphasis is on avoiding the crashes that lead to the corruption.
[aside--hmm: is there a link to see who should get the credit for that patch?]
