Question Clean Limewire 2.1.3 question

First of all, kudos to both the limewire and clean limewire teams for their hard work. It's greatly appreciated!

I do have one question about Clean Limewire 2.1.3, that being - everytime I start Limewire, I see the "nag" message box prompting me to upgrade to Limewire Pro or do it later. This isn't too big a deal, as I can simply click past it. However, I thought the point of clean limewire was to avoid all the annoying things that get added into limewire, and that box does begin to get annoying.

Is there a modification I can do to avoid seeing this everytime?

Thanks and keep up the great work

Default Addendm

By the way, I am aware that this may just be a part of Limewire that can't be modified without changing the source code, but am curious. It'd be much easier for me to see that message box once and if I ever wish to upgrade, to select that option from the help menu.

Sometimes, peoples ignorance and stupidity really astounds me.The Clean Limewire project was started by TruStarwarrior who is now being helped by VTOLfreak, the idea of a CLEAN Limewire is exactly that,it is clean,no spyware, tojans blah blah blah.
Both TruStarwarrior and VTOLfreak have been avid fans of Limewire, before and after the 'Clean' project was born have encouraged users to upgrade to the Pro version of Limewire.
Clean Limewire,is basically to let the users know what Limewire is all about without the bundled crap that goes with the free version.
As for the reminder about upgrading to Pro every time you start up Clean Limewire...deal with it, or upgrade to the Pro,which is the whole point.

Angry You didn't provide an answer, junior!

Ignorant and stupid, eh?

Judgine by your reply, I'd be more apt to look in the mirror before I made those kind of comments.

I honestly don't want to hear about all this altrusitic garbage about why Clean Limewire was created. Fine and dandy, but I use it because I like Limewire, but not what it has become lately and won't support a Gnutella client who won't honestly disclose what they include with their software or why (they are coming around on this point, but shouldn't need to!).

Furthermore, I believe my question was a simple one, which could be easily solved if there is a *.ini file change or other simple modification that can be done. I didn't ask for a history detailing the trials and tribulations of the people here.

The fact is, Clean Limewire gets rid of (mot of) the annoying aspects of Limewire. If you want to upgrade to "Pro" I think most people are competent enough to do it on their own. Yes, I know that the "nag" message is part of Limewire regardless, but posed the question for curioisity's sake. Maybe I will have to investigate and make the change myself. So sorry you couldn't help but get your britches in a bind over it.

Come back when you are over your tantrum and have something more constructive or intellectually relevant to bring to the table than the whining that you are spewing.

If I wanted a smart-**** reply, I would have asked for one. That said, shove off, mate.

Sorry if this response seems hostile in the least, but I came to this forum for some simple assistance and find myself being the target of this kind of abuse. I don't need it.

Thanks.

Lightbulb Purpose of Clean Limewire

This post may be more of a slight gripe than a complaint, but it's worth noting this, said by VTOLfreak:

"As long as somebody has something to complain for Clean LimeWire will always exist . "

Clean limeWire was made to remove all the spyware and such .
If the creators want a pop-up window when starting up LW , fine .
We will only remove it when they become too agressive , like start showing pop-ups every 5 minutes .
Allot of people have bought LW pro because CLW , so we keep the pop-up in .
And with that statement I meaned all the garbage associated with the official free version .

If you don't want it , don't use it !
Is anyone forcing CLW up your *** ?
I don't think so ...

Unhappy Why the attitude?

I simply asked IF I could get rid of that message (Upgrade to Pro - Yes/Later). Nothing more. Yet, I get bashed without provocation. Yes, I know CLW is LW with less "filling". The source code outside of the install is virtually, if not totally, identical. Yes, I know that. If there isn't a way to rid myself of the nagging message, then say "no". Simple.

I was just looking for an INI tweak or registry workaround. Crimany!

Yes, I like Limewire- if you notice I praised those involved with both LW and CLW. Does that feature bug me? Yes. Will I stop using it because of that? No. I didn't come out saying LW was bad because of it, I just asked if a workaround is available.

One thing I know, I won't be back to these boards to ask any questons unless it's to the LW developers themselves. I'm better off tinkering on my own. Thanks anyway. Rudeness aside, you seem to want to be helpful.

<rant>So ironic trying to justify profiting from open source....much less defending it.

You got what you wanted .
We are currently testing a 2.1.3 revision wich has no nag screen or ads.props and CBanner2.dll for that matter .
But it's not out yet , don't go running to the CLW site ... yet .
