Saving a scanned document

My two scanners have stopped importing scanned documents to My Pictures Folder, where I usually open them with Photoshop CS6.

Scanning takes place normally, but then, instead of the box showing the word IMPORT, the screen automatically jumps back to the desktop.

Could this have happened because I downloaded and installed the OCR program to enable editing after scanning? Perhaps there is some sort of incompatibility between importing the scanned document and using OCR?
OCR works well on both my scanners.

The scanners I use are:- hp 3-in-1 printer deskjet 1050A J410
and
hp flatbed scanjet 3970
