Thanks for the advice never realised there were quite so many fake files on Lime surely there is a way of combatting them.

Bitzi only really works if people register the fakes even then they are powerless to do anything

Sleepless May 31st, 2007 06:54 AM

Well using BitTorrent helps a bit, but I decided to not include in the guide, because only the Beta version of Limewire supports it.

I will include it when there is an Official Limewire with BitTorrent

You appear to lack imagination... Are you perhaps a fighter pilot ?

This is not exactly the best place to ask where you can download a pirate copy of LimeWire Pro, eh ?

SORRY BUT 1STLY I'M NEW ON HERE & 2NDLY DON'T TAKE TOO KINDLY THE LANGAUGE YOU JUST PRODUCED ON ME & 3RDLY JUST WANTED TIPS ON HOW TO GET THE BEST OUT OF MUSIC DOWNLOADS.SORRY IF YOU HAVE BEEN MISSLEAD.PRO IS SOMTHING I HAVE NOT YET USED DUE TO THE COST:mad:

Sleepless July 13th, 2007 05:16 PM

Go to Lime Wire » Official Website & Free Download « and buy it. It's only $18.88 or something like that.

mr.download July 13th, 2007 05:35 PM

does it mke much difference?

wondering why July 14th, 2007 02:50 AM

If you are using Basic and it is running to it's full potential yes you may see a difference...Don't get Pro if you are having troubles with the Basic version...
Pro will give you 5 ultrapeers instead of 3, in doing this it can increase your search results and the number of hosts you connect to, thus increasing your speeds...;)

mr.download July 14th, 2007 02:13 PM

oh right ok. i had thought about getting PRO but could not afford it. someone else who has limewire said once there was away round to getting PRO avoiding the fees but was never shown how.mayby that was a bad idea ,who knows?

Remoc July 14th, 2007 09:12 PM

Hey Dude, don't get Pro if you can't afford it. It's not going to make a huge difference. As WW said you will get a few little xtras but nothing to right home about. Just don't want you to think that if you get Pro, super things are going to happen. Most of us that pay for Pro do so to help support the development of Limewire. Hope this helps.

mr.download July 15th, 2007 08:44 AM

no problem thanks for your advice.i used to use winmx before limewire.if i could get winmx again is it possible to use the two for extra downloads?i have tryed to download music videos but as yet still havn't got a DVD writer installed.but i suppose thinking about it i could transfere them to my real player as i do with my music

WHY
WHY do you not try some of the other GnutellaNetwork Clients ???

i.e. PHEX - works under JAVA as does LimeWire... ABSOLUTELY FREE !!!

or

BearShare... I mean the OLD versions which are freely mentioned here within the appropriate forums... Foollow Aaron Walkhouse posts....

You WILL be happy with Gnutella... It is only a matter of your effort to find the best client for you...

i get the feeling i come to the wrong place to talk about limewire?

b r i t t a n e e August 19th, 2007 11:14 AM

ok wheni click on the magnetpix and try to download something a screen pops up and says that firefox doesnt know how to open it because the protocal(magnet) is unfamilair what am i doing wrong?

Lord of the Rings August 19th, 2007 11:43 PM

(1) the magnet links are often either out of date or intended for other programs.
(2) You will need to add the magnetic link to the properties of Firefox to handle.
(3) That site is intended as a reference site for checking files are genuine & are of good quality or not. Not as a download site. (Unless you went to their free downloads page which are all non copyright files.)

i think i need a decoder, could this be the reason, i can not copy movies from lime wire:confused::confused::bangh:

6_pac November 1st, 2007 11:10 PM

alfred1,

LW can't burn files. You'll need a burning program.

Usually if a file can't be played, it's because the your lacking the codecs needed to play the file properly. See : http://www.gnutellaforums.com/gettin...tml#post288590

What program are you using to burn them with?

DVDSANTA is a free program that's easy to use. See Use DVDSanta

I like Nero 7. It's not free but it has a free trial. See: Making a DVD Video using Nero 7 Premium

This thread might help: Loading movies on a dvd using Nero StartSmart

how to download a complete album? AlbumWrap/ALBW files

Cannot connect

 Hello, I am looking for someone to help me. I just downloaded this program Limewire last night and I have not been able to connect. I did everything I know how to do, but when trying to add a connection, it trys to connect for only 6 seconds and then disappears. Then there is nothing in the connection box. How can I fix this problem to get Limewire to work? Any and all help would be totally greatful. Thanks....

Sleepless January 7th, 2008 05:01 AM

Asking for help in the connection problems section instead of here will do wonders. Read through the sticky's there to find more thing to try yourself and if that doesn't work then post your system details and explain what you tried in that section.

Magic25 January 9th, 2008 03:37 AM

Just wondering how to find DJ's Choice albums; specifically the As Seen on TV albums. I've browsed several hosts and none of them have any DJ's Choice albums. Am currently an Ultrapeer which I'd have thought would have opened up more hosts carrying those albums. Have heard many tips, such as removing hosts until they're all Pro or disabling Ultrapeer capabilities altogether. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thank you,
Andrew Perkins

Magic25 January 9th, 2008 10:47 AM

Here's another question-it's probably been asked before-but is it possible to have other Ultrapeers connecting to you when you are an Ultrapeer? As far as the DJ's Choice albums go, the As Seen On TV albums would be classed as Soundtrack as the genre.

Thank you,
Andrew Perkins

Sleepless January 9th, 2008 04:54 PM

try the bittorrent option, use google

"Name of album or artist"+torrent

Magic25 January 12th, 2008 11:36 AM

Hey Sleepless, what do you think is the best number of simultaneous downloads that you can set in the Download section? Also, what port setting works best for you? I currently have mine set at 30000, but I have set the range from 30000-65000.

Thank you,
Andrew Perkins

Sleepless January 12th, 2008 12:34 PM

Portnumbers in the range 49152 through 65535 http://www.iana.org/assignments/port-numbers

As for simultanious downloads, it all depends on your downspeed and system. I don't use Limewire anymore, so nothing works best for me.

Uploads should be throttled at at least 5KB/s under maximum and if acting as an UltraPeer probably closer to 15KB/s under maximum.

Sleepless January 13th, 2008 11:14 AM

Updated

Added link to thread explaining how to use TechNutopia Fullsize Hostiles list as well as cleaned it up a bit

Magic25 January 14th, 2008 06:47 AM

I may be a bit dense, but how exactly do you use the bittorrent option? I type in the URL: Google and then it says it can't find or download anything from the site. Also, here's a little tip, if you can't browse a host remove it from the list and let LW search for some more. I'd block some hosts if I only knew which ones should be blocked; a little help in that department please?

Thank you,
Andrew Perkins

Sleepless January 14th, 2008 10:15 AM

First: Limewire sucks for torrents. Use either µTorrent - The Light****** and Efficient BitTorrent Client or Azureus : Java BitTorrent Client (You will find links on how to setup the clients on the respective websites)

If you choose Azureus this might come in handy as well Main Page - AzureusWiki

Also: Bittorrent - Bit Torrent terms and definitions

You download and open the torrent file with the programs.

BTW Google is a great way to find torrents as well. Type "what you are searching for"+torrent in the search bar and press enter, then read the comments if available before downloading. There are many fake torrent files on public torrent indexing sites as well.

Magic25 January 15th, 2008 11:25 AM

Sleepless, Azureus didn't find what I was searching for, so I'm sticking with utorrent for now. Haven't found anything with utorrent either, but maybe adding some more search engines to the list in the Advanced section might yield a better chance for the albums and songs I'm looking for. Could you please suggest more addresses to add to the list? As far as port settings go I've set LW and Utorrent at 50000 so maybe I should tweak that setting. Any help is greatly appreciated; btw do you have to pay for Bittorent or is it a free program?

Thank you,
Andrew Perkins

Sleepless January 15th, 2008 11:54 PM

lol.. You use your internet browser not Azureus or uTorrent to find stuff. You just open the .torrent in Azureus or uTorrent. Use Google to search.

I did not include more sites because public sites are hit or miss. Anti filesharing companies put out fake files etc.

BitTorrent programs are always free to the best of my knowledge and BitTorrent is in most cases free, but it depends what you do with it.

If it's private sites you want then:

Magic25 January 16th, 2008 02:09 PM

Well, I couldn't find torrents for **** LW finds an album or two but there's usually only one result which I've already downloaded. Guess I'll have to keep on looking, any help is greatly appreciated. Any tips, no matter how small might help me find these albums in their entirety.

Thank you,
Andrew Perkins

Magic25 January 21st, 2008 05:48 AM

There's a torrent search engine that enables you to search for a torrent from all the major torrent sites. There may be others but I have not found them yet. The site is TorrentPond.com - Search ALL Torrent Engines Here. Give it a visit, it's worth it. Oh, Sleepless, I've been searching for *** videos; haven't been able to find the ***; please let me know if you run across these.

Thank you,
Andrew Perkins

Sleepless January 21st, 2008 01:08 PM

Edit: Can't find them either. At least not seeded

adrms January 22nd, 2008 06:25 PM

Im new to limewire...and everything has been going fine, but now my mp3 player has decided that all my songs that are bitrate 128 have turned fuzzy...they sound like an old dying cassette.. so i go onto limewire to search for the same songs with a different bitrate, but they only seem to have bitrate 128 for most songs...is there anything i can do??????

Magic25 January 23rd, 2008 04:04 AM

Adrms, try playing them through Limewire Media Player; if that doesn't work you can use other media players, most popular being the Windows Media Player. As for me, I never download anything less than 128 bitrate as I consider 128 and above to be best in sound quality. It is true, 128 pops up most often, but if you're patient there are higher bitrates out there. Don't think there's any way to get more higher bitrate files in your searches unless Sleepless has some tricks up his sleeves-sorry to put you on the spot there Sleepless.

Keep searching - you'll find higher bitrate files eventually, it just seems like an eternity for those files to show up,

Andrew Perkins

Sleepless January 23rd, 2008 02:53 PM

My advise is to not rely on Limewire for quality. Install a proper BitTorrent client like Azureus or uTorrent and join private music tracker sites.

note:

1. Private sites demand you seed back i.e. acceptable ratio (what acceptable ratio is depends on the site. Read Rules and FAQ when joining for that info and other important to know stuff).

2. If you try and cheat ratio. YOU WILL GET BANNED. Bans may be transferred to several other sites as well. In other words just don't

Most private sites have forums. Some have request systems.

Some have bonus points for seeding which help with your ratio.

Magic25 January 24th, 2008 03:20 AM

Sleepless, I agree with you about torrent sites; I've got utorrent, Azureus and BitComet; but when there's no torrent file for what you're looking for LW is an alternative. There aren't torrents for everything, wish there were though. Like I mentioned before the **** albums aren't available as torrents, nor is ****. Definitely have bittorrent programs, no argument there, but always have LW to fall back on in case you can't find a torrent for what you're looking for. Just my opinion.

Thank you,
Andrew Perkins

Sleepless January 24th, 2008 06:06 AM

On the sites I'm on I usually just request things that I can't find.. or actually go out and buy them if I really want them. Mostly I only buy stuff to support artists though i.e. anything RIAA related doesn't make a penny on me. I refuse to support an organization that thrives on suing homemakers and college students.

Sleepless, I removed .flac from the filter list, but I'm not getting any .flac files in my searches. I would have thought that these files would show up now that they're not on the filter list. Guess maybe nobody's sharing .flac files at this time.

I remember very few people were sharing them back when I used Limewire also. But I used to just search by extension and browse through the search results.
