what does this mean

at the bottom of my library it has a folder that looks like this _ it has all these documents in it but there is no way to open them. i really hope i didn't get a virus.

With " _ " you mean it shows you only an underscore dash??
Could be a display problem coming from Java (just a guess).
You could uninstall all your Java versions and try to download the newest Java version (JRE offline installer) and reinstall this one:
