![]() I recently did a search (I think it was a "browse host" on a song I had found before, but I am not sure, it may have been right click and "search more") and came up with a strange result. The items listed in the "artist" section are actually song titles, and they come up a number of times (with different, real-looking, names, just like you get when different users have their songs written up differently) but if you look at file sizes they vary a lot even within the same bitrate. I downloaded two songs, which happened at incredible speed (250 KB/s or s'thing like that, whereas normally I am very happy to find a song I can download at 20-30 KB/s) but when I played them they were just static noise. What kind of host did I find? Is it some spammer, or is it an ultrapeer or whatever that doesn't actually has the songs but lists what's around, or what? Why would such a result even come up on my screen if I cannot do anything with it? See also attached screenshots (well, partial shots, to keep below 100KB ![]() Last edited by Helanren; December 21st, 2006 at 09:27 AM. |

![]() Some type of spam probably. The variation in bit rate v's size is a telling sign that some of those files won't play properly. mp3 Bit-Rates Versus File Sizes (click on link), & this link might be of help ... Beware of Fake files in search results |
