Question LimeWire Acceleration Patch

I am trying LimeWire Acceleration Patch and would like some feedbck from anyone who has tried this product.
I find the bother screen annoying (free version) but so far it seems to work ok.
I use Windows XP and Limewire 4.16.7 Pro.
Look forward to reading your comments!

Greetings from Taiwan!

How do you think it works? You can only download as fast as people can upload to you. All reports, both from users & from LW devs say it's fake. Some people complained it was actually trouble-some, I cannot recall now, you'd need to search the reasons on the forum.

Thumbs down Limewire Accelerator Trash!

Dear LOTR
Yeah! I'll go with the gimmick conclusion. It doesn't seem to hurt but the bothersome reminders are a pain in the nethers.
It also grieves me that I was 1 post short of your 1000th pontification on this site. Who will be the lucky memberto receive the one thousandth pearl of your wisdom?
Thanx 4 your indulgence!

hehe oops ... consider it yours even if it was just so close.
I do recall there was a major issue with one of these so-called accelerators .. cannot recall what it was. Some accelerators for p2p programs did actually work ok .. the earlier type p2p programs on a different type of network; I'm sure you can guess which. But they are now dead or .. with very last breath. O.o

I do recall with one research that one of these so called accelerators pounds the hosts to get a foot into their upload door. Of course, even if they get to the door, LW has an automated function of banning clients that hit at them too often ... referring to them as greedy.

Same thing happens if you download too many files from a single host. In general, try to download no more than 2-3 files at a time from a single host.

In all honesty I'm starting to wonder if I'm getting ripped off somewhere. I pay an extremely high internet bill as I opted for the faster, 100mbps connection and my LAN shows that I'm getting everything I pay for. However I have no processes running other than our dear LW and only one file downloading at this time. I've attempted to set proxy settings and forward them however that just seems a waste of time and in truth, a little too advanced for me. Mind you I have installed my memory in my compaq myself. I have also heard of the ultrapeer capabilities and how one might delete the five I have running as of current....WHY WOULD I DO THAT!? It's a scary thing to HOPE that I will eventually pick up on 32 ultrapeers but with no guarantee....does ANYONE know a surefire way to speed my dl time past 38kbs??? any help is so appreciated. hell I'd be willing to pay for services if I could start pulling around 100+kbps

sbc is possibly packet shaping you and limiting your download speeds for p2p clients...

Speed Test - dslreports.com

do a speed test there and see what the results are..they also have tools and tutorials on how to tweak your settings...

I've found the numbers sbc (at&t) gives to be rather ambiguous and misleading....
