LimeWire 5 and Java 7

I notice Apple have released version 7 of Java for Lion 10.7.3 or higher. Has anybody had any problems running any version of LW 5 under Java 7 (1.7)?

I wanted to know if a Java 7 problem only affected Windows users where LW would refuse to open, saying the wrong version of Java was installed.

I am still using Snow Leopard with no plans to upgrade in the near future.

A very old thread but since it's my own I am going to update the information.

LimeWire will not run with Oracle's Java 7. However, as of WireShare 5.6.4 this version will run with Java versions 6, 7 or higher. If you wish to use LimeWire with Java 7 or 8 or higher then I recommend using WireShare 5.6.4 or later.
WireShare (released 2014) is an upgraded version of LimeWire Pirate Edition which was released late in 2010.

Java is not packaged with WireShare (due to its 60 MB installer size) & needs to be downloaded separately from the Oracle Java website. Java is no longer packaged with MacOSX.

This information is applicable to those using OSX 10.7 Lion or later. For those using OSX 10.6/5 Snow Leopard or Leopard, WireShare will use Java 6.

I'm still sticking to Snow Leopard since I do not like the changes made to Mavericks. The changes slow my workflow down considerably. Though I do like the keep same open folders & documents per application between sessions. Some other changes are too Windows like. And TextEdit's unchangeable autosave feature is a headache when no saves are intended. Also TextEdit's changed search function which is now limited to internal specific document instead of a universal open document search tool which had more options for formatted text searching. Interesting to compare Maverick's TextEdit to MacOS 7's SimpleText. lol Gone 20 years backward.
