Sharing music ripped with iTunes broken?

I'd like to make sure that other people can see the music I'm trying to share. I've ripped lots of CDs with iTunes, the Apple music program, and shared that directory inside LimeWire, but I don't seem to get any downloads in the Monitor page. Songs that I've downloaded are periodically uploaded by other users, but never any of the iTunes files.

Also, I leave LimeWire running at home, but at work searches for the rare CDs on my home LimeWire don't show up. I was wondering if anyone else had problems sharing music that was ripped with iTunes.

Any yes, LimeWire does see the iTunes directories, and the bottom of the program says "sharing 480 files", which would only be possible if it was counting the iTunes directories.

My home computer is shielded by a firewall, but that can't be the issue since files that I've downloaded that have been ripped by other people are then uploaded just fine.

Thanks,

Sounds like it could be a permissions thing. The default location for iTunes music is in your user folder, which is off limits to anyone else (any other user). Maybe this is preventing them from being shared via Limewire.

Try moving your iTunes Library folder into your Public folder or into the Users/Shared folder. Then open iTunes, and in the Preferences, relink to your iTunes library folder at the location it is now.

Then try seeing if you can share them.

Or try copying/moving them into the same folder as the ones you've downloaded.

Hope this helps....

Me too!

Just wanted folks to know I'd checked around on the archives, and didn't find a definitive answer to this question. BTW -- I heard back from the gurus at Limewire Pro.... Their response? "iTunes is an Apple product. We suggest you check with apple as Limewire will share ANY [emphasis added] file in it shared folders."

Well, no it WON'T, Limewire dudes. I think me and a few other people on this forum have shown this to be the case!

Permissions is a different matter though. If you don't have permissions to share from particular part of the computer then you may suffer such problems as suggested by the 1st 2 posts.
