Default missing files-external hard drive

I had limewire set to store files on an external hard drive. Today, I downloaded some files but did not have my firewire harddrive plugged in. The settings in the preferences stayed the same, and I cannot find my files.

When I click browse in the save directory I see a new folder on my HD called volumes which has a link to my external hard drive, but, these files are invisible when I search for them in the finder, and they are not on my external hard drive.

I am running osx. Any suggestions?
