same problem with 10.2.3:

After installing the latest version of LimeWire for Mac OSX from the LimeWire website, I receive the following error when trying to open LimeWire:

"Cannot Launch Java Application
The main class "com.zoreg.lax.LAX" could not be loaded."

A similar message is displayed when trying to uninstall LimeWire. I have a PowerBook G4 with 768MB RAM and 30GB hard drive. Any assistance with this problem would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for your help and happy New Year!

Lightbulb com.zerog.lax.LAX

After puzzling over why I was getting the com.zerog.lax.LAX error message on an 800 MHZ Powerbook but not on a dual Quicksilver, both running 10.2.3 I tried placing Java on the desktop (as suggested in posting) with no success. Then I tried reinstalling LimeWire on the desktop and Viola! no error message.

Your suggestion works. Once I installed it on the desktop, LimeWire worked just fine. I don't know exactly why or how, but it works! Thank you!

Default java problem

did the same. reinstalled limewire on desktop. worked out fine.
copied it to the folder it used to be in: the java prob again.
put it right into the applications folder: works fine.

Default Java error

I keep getting the "com.zerog.lax.LAX" error message. Anyone know how to fix this? I am using MacOSX 10.1.5

Thumbs up com.zerog.lax.LAX error

I repeatedly got the com.zerog.lax.LAX error message on a G4 powerbook running OS 10.4.2. I moved the installer from the download folder to the desktop as suggested above and it installed and now runs without problems so far. Thanks!
