Question 3.5.8 Problems

For some reason I can not download the new version of Limewire (3.5.8 basic). I went to several different websites but it will either not download at all or I get a page filled with unreadable text.

Also, my older version of Limewire (3.4, I think) does not launch anymore. I click on the icon and nothing happens. It had been working fine 2 weeks ago. Could this be related to the 3.5 upgrade? The only thing I have added to my computer is an iomega zip driver and tools I downloaded a few days ago. Could that have caused my 3.4 version to fail?

Default can't load 3.5.8 to Mac w/ new OS upgrade

I can't load the new LW upgrade to my Mac, either. I managed to get a disk image, but get an error msg about not having permission to replace the LW, even tho' I'm logged in as root. I tried another download of Pro ('cause I paid for it a while back) and got gibberish text instead. Now I can't even start the old LW... it just quits. Help!

I did upgrade to the new and buggy Mac OS X upgrade. I learned never to do that again w/o giving it a few days to simmer. Wonder if that's the problem.

use Safari to download. Internet Explorer sometimes tries to read the .dmg as a page (gibberish): if you control -click the download link you can get the option to download file to disk, which works fine.

Sure hope Apple fixes that "upgrade." If you do run into problems, see http://www.macfixit.com/article.php?...30923081737183 (thanks, Janet).

I try never to use the root login. If LW is busy (hidden/minimized/recently quit), you won't be able to replace it. Either wait and try again, or risk the restart.

Thanks for the advice. I was finally able to download 3.5.8 (LimewireOSX.sit), but now it won't install on the Hard Drive! The installer icon pops up on the desktop, but won't launch. I click on it and nothing happens! I ended up switching the start-up disk to OS 9 then installed the OS 9 version (or beta version?) LimewireMac.bin. Either way it works in 9. I'd rather have it in OSX. I have no idea why it won't install there?
