that's the message I get when trying to install Pro onto my Mac. Had Basic installed (and it worked great****** it!) and I've sent it to the trash, emptied the trash and restarted the computer several times
I get the message on the 2nd screen of the istall program which says "Select a destinantion" and shows my one and only hard drive. But when I choose the heard drive it gets a red Exclamation mark and gives me the message. Any ideas? I'm new to the Mac so still learing. Thanks |

Sounds like a permissions issue! Have you repaired privileges & checked that it is setup to suit your usage. When I 1st used OSX I was shocked & confused to find I couldn't do certain things such as add files to certain locations. However, I've since set it up so I can do 'almost' everything anywhere on my OSX partition. Check your folder info for each area where you're trying to install (read & write permissions). I'm far away from an OSX whizz or mac os whizz for that matter, but I've picked things up bit by bit. And you will too. When yo change permissions, etc. restart just to be on the safe side to make sue your changes have taken effect. If not, you may need to re-dabble. Hope this is of some type of help. I hate to profess about something I don't necessarily have a complete hand on. Get back to us to see how you go. There's other OSX users out there incl. on the forum who probably know better than I.

Thanks LotR's. I fooled around in the preferences setting s while to no avail but figured u were right that I had an OSX problem not a Limewire problem so I just reinstalled OSX and all is well. Guess I need to learn a bit more about Preferences..
Thanks again |

I've had a similar problem — "cannot install this software on this volume (null)". I've repaired permissions (using both Mac disk utilities and Cocktail) and rebuilt the directory (using Disk Warrior) and even installed other software both before and after on this same drive. Still no joy.

It appears the issue is with the Pro installer. After verfiying the disk from a second partition (no problems), I tried another app installer (Pith Helmet) which uses a similar OS X install procedure — as opposed to drag and drop — and it installed no problem. I can also install the basic new beta version 4.1.5 without problem. It appears there is a bug in the instal program recognizing permissions.

find and delete the file "Install LimeWire.pkg"
(it's in /Library/Receipts/). It's the culprit. |
