Admin Password with new limewire version and mac OS9 WTF HELP?!?!?!!!!!!!

I need help! When I go to install the new Limewire because I can't find versions of old ones on my Mac OSX 9 it asks for an admin username and password. And IDK WTF it's asking for. I've tried several such as my login and the admins and nothing works and I'm getting really pissed off.

If there is no solution which I hope isnt the case can anyone link me to the previous version that was working for me??????????

THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It sounds a bit suspicious to me. Do you have ability to login as admin? It sounds as though you don't & you don't have permission to install on the computer. Is it your computer or your dad's? It doesn't sound like a LW issue. If not, it would probably be best if you asked permission from the owner of the computer if you can install LW. I might be wrong but I get the impression you don't know a lot about OSX. It's certainly not OSX 9. If you have a dual OS, why not dwnld & install the classic version LW. I noticed you posted in the general mac section also.
Actually having another look at this, if you are in OS9 as the topic suggests & you have a security system. This won't be a native mac security system but 3rd party (as far as I know). Which means that what I said earlier is most likely true. It's probably not your computer. To reiterate, it'd be best & fairer to ask the permission of the owner.

Hey. This is my cousin's and uncle's computer and no I don't own a mac.
My cousin tried my uncle's(owner) username and password and it didnt work. We install plenty of **** so I don't know why it wouldnt work.
He says its os10. or osx, whatever, and he said it never asked for that before.

I downloaded the previous version of limewire so its up and working. I guess I dont need that anymore because I found this.

I have another problem, though. It keeps saying something about a java error/bug at xml.war and wont let the file be uploaded to my computer.

Where can I do system update to fix update to the new java or do I have to do that manually like download some sort of java upgrade?

Thanks

What you need to do is run Software Update. Go to the Apple menu in Mac OS 10 and come down to Software Update.

Problem is he will still be faced with an administrator passwd in order to complete the installation of Java via S. Update.

If it's a dual OS mac, then you should be able to restart in OS 9 & run LW there without all the security rigmarole. One way to find out is to go to your System Preferences & at the top right you'll see startup disk. Press this. This will show whether you have more than one startup OS. If yes, choose the OS 9 startup & use the Classic LW version. Personally I don't see an easy way around the need for an administrator passwd in OSX.

If you have the previous version of LW up & running why not use that?

Lord of the Rings,

He should ask his uncle for the administrator username and password so he can update Java and install LimeWire. Or he could always reset the password if they can't remember it. See the following link on changing or resetting an account password in Mac OS X on Apple's support page: <http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=106156> I hope this clears things up.
