movie downloads
 
granted, i am not a computer genius......but i'm having an impossible time trying to download movies and get them to work.....what's the process for downloading movies so that i can watch them at home on a regular dvd player?....do i need to convert the files?

any assitance would be greatly appreciated!!

I'm not into dwnlding movies & burning them to dvd or even vcd for that matter. You could always borrow them from a video hire & make a backup to watch when it's convenient. It's also more legal.

As far as viewing movies on a mac, QT can play some formats but not all. May I suggest you get a hold of VLC (it's free) & will play divx, mpeg, wmv, dvd'd & vcd's & more. You'll need to dwnd it from one of the mirror sites such as France (yes it's in english.) Another alternative is MPlayer.

As far as converting these movies to burn to dvd, I'd suggest u do a search of this forum & search for dvd or movies. You will find links to sites that will tell you the techniques & the apps you'll need for the conversions. What you'll need will depend upon the file format of the file u have. DVD's require MPeg2. Have a look in the Tips & Tricks section of the forum or specifically see this thread. Hope this helps.
