Can't install AT ALL

Hello. I am using a Mac os 10.3.8. I have the latest version of java and have repaired persmissions and checked everything. I can't get Limewire to install. I double click on the icon to install and I get this message "the file archive boom does not appear to compressed or encoded. It is advised that you obtain further information about the contents of this file from the sender of the file." The same message is for Info.plist, PkgInfo, and Description.plist. It tells me I have a java corruption, but I again I have the latest version and have repaired and checked permissions. I hope anyone has an idea as to why this is. Thanks.

2 pieces of advice:

1. Install the Standalone version of Java: http://www.apple.com/downloads/macos...update142.html (for some reason OSX updates over the net seems to cause problems for some people.)

2. See Stief's post here: http://www.gnutellaforums.com/showth...threadid=34117

To Lord of The Rings:

I tried as you suggested, but I am still having the same problems. I also am still getting the same messages that I posted before. Do you think that this has to do with me trying to install the latest version of Limewire? Do you think that I should try to install an older version on OSX? As always any help is appreciated. Thank you.

Refer to THIS Post (click on link) & check the link for Jum's build (it's one of the last I think point 8 or so.) His version is a beta but it does not require any installation. You download the dmg & just drag & drop the LW program wherever you want it to be. See if that works. If it does then ... something's mucking up your installing. Did you uninstall the previous version before installing or install over the top?

To: Lord of the Rings. That version that of Limewire you suggested worked perfectly. Actually, I was thinking the same thing, but couldn't find where to download it. Limewire 4.4 works perfectly. Why the other version didn't work is beyond me. Anyway thank you for your time and effort. It was most appreciated by me and I'm sure by all.

By the way Jum updates his version every week or 2. If he hasn't yet updated it to 4.6 then it will only be a matter of days. Also be aware that he disabled the media player. This is not really an issue for OSX users! iTunes always compensates.
