I just dowloaded Limewire and I have a basic 56k modem built in to my laptop and every time I open Limewire it just says connecting but never connects. I have already done my firewalls and tried deleting my prefrences. ANY SUGGESTION?

Yes ... why are you using a proxy? Is it necessary? this might be part of your problem. Particularly if you haven't set LW up to cope with it.
