Only one green bar on Limewire

I hope Lord Of The Rings or anyone else can help!
I have a Mac and am running Panther. I downloaded Limewire successfully but am unable to download music. Only one of the 5 bars is green, so I am assuming I'm having connectivity issues, but don't know why. Is there ANYTHING I can do to correct this. Also, it does not appear that I have any firewalls issues through my internet provider, Qwest.

Can you give us a total desciption of your set up:
1. OS version? (eg: OS 10.3.9)
2. What firewalls you have?
3. How much ram?
4. Hard Disk space available?
5. Connection type? (eg: dialup, broadband, cable, etc.)
6. Modem & router brand name & model numbers?
7. Where are you trying to connect from (home, school, work, etc.)?
8. What version of Limewire (LW) & Java do you have? (Go to LW's menu Help>About LW...) Will show both LW & Java version.
9. Is this a your 1st try at LW or is this a new problem with an experienced user.

I'm totally having this same problem, someone needs to help out, cause I don't know what's going on. Should i get the pro? i don't know what to do!

Lord of the Rings July 27th, 2005 07:05 PM

No don't get Pro unless you're happy with the basic version! ;) Sort out any small issues 1st & then once you have some experience of use then consider getting pro. The improvements are not dramatic but subtle. Connecting to 5 peers instead of 3.

* Please answer the above questions so we have some type of info to help us work out where your problem may lay. Also please do the following tests:

* Do this simple test for us. Using your browser go here: http://www3.limewire.com:6346/ The page should say 'Your test worked!'. What happens when you go there?

* Do this test: Bug Report instructions & sample image Is the result True/False?

* "IF" you have OSX's firewall active then please see this about configuring it to allow LW full access: Firewall configuration instructions (click on link)

Last recomendation worked

The last thread bt Lord Of The Rings fixed my problem. It turned out it was the Static IP Address that needed to be changed. Click on the links and follow the instructions. If you too have the Actiontec router, this should solve the issue!

Okay still not working... but here's some info!
* Please answer the above questions so we have some type of info to help us work out where your problem may lay. Also please do the following tests:
1. OS version? OS 10.2.8
2. What firewalls you have?how do i figure this out???
3. How much ram?256 MB
4. Hard Disk space available? not sure, how do i figure out this.
5. Connection type? (eg: dialup, broadband, cable, etc.) Cable
6. Modem & router brand name & model numbers? Comcast
7. Where are you trying to connect from (home, school, work, etc.)? home, apartment building.
8. What version of Limewire (LW) & Java do you have? (Go to LW's menu Help>About LW...) Will show both LW & Java version.
9. Is this a your 1st try at LW or is this a new problem with an experienced user? I've used Limewire years ago, but uninstalled it, so i'm new in that aspect. So for the most part yes. It use to only run in Classic mode, I hate that.

* Do this test: Bug Report instructions & sample image Is the result True/False? False

* "IF" you have OSX's firewall active then please see this about configuring it to allow LW full access: Firewall configuration instructions (click on link)- Tried that, set it all up, didn't work!

I'm not the most computer literate person, but i'm trying. All the help would be appreciated, thanks so much!

Many people consider that a firewall is not necessary on mac osx. But that's a personal decision.
Try changing your LW's listening port. Go to LW's preferences >Advanced>Firewalls & change the port no. to one of these or try them one by one: 3500, 1203, 80, 20282, or 443. After changing it from port 6346 to one of those no.'s, press the apply button. Then go to File>Disconnect, wait a minute, then File>Connect. Give it 20 mins or so to try to connect properly. Try this with each of the suggested no.'s.

By the way, is there any other comp's connected to that same cable in your place? If yes, do they run any p2p share program? Are they windows or mac, etc. any details could be helpful.

Littlegirlslie21 July 29th, 2005 04:51 PM

Yet another bad ending! I tried each of those numbers NONE of them working. :( SO that sucks. There are no other computers on this cable connectione except mine. I have a feeling my relationship with Lime Wire is about to be over soon. Any more information you could provide would be helpful. Let me know if you need anything!
Thanks!

Downld this version, it's a beta of the beta but it's easier to install: http://www.mager.org/LimeWire/

Problem is you seem to be blocked from the ports most p2p sharing programs use. That may be deliberate to stop you using up lots of bandwidth.

Tell us if you can downld a magnet link via this site: http://www.magnetmix.com/video.shtml

Is there any possibility of you changing isp providers?

If you can't help me with brand & model no's of your modem/router then my help is limited. Chances are your router might be the offender for blocking ports (otherwise it's your isp.)!!!
