MacOSX 10.4.2 and LimeWire Pro
 
I am currently using a PowerBook G4 running MacOS 10.4.2 and I just updated my copy of LimeWire Pro from v4.8.1 Pro to v4.9.29. When I updated to v4.9.29, I noticed that I wasn't running LimeWire Pro anymore. I have the original confirmation email I received when I purchased LimeWire Pro (dated October 24, 2004) and I have attempted to use the link to download the installer. Is this link only good for six months? When I attempt to pull up any information using my email address I am given an error message. Is that information only stored for six months as well? Do I need to purchase a new copy of LimeWire Pro now?

Same problem
 
I have almost the same problem. I am running OS X 10.4.2 on a Powerbook G4. I purchase Limewire Pro. I received the link, downloaded what I thought was LimeWire Pro. Install the program......and it's not Pro but the basic.
I tried to let my e-address to the appropriate support page but it send me automatically to the page which propose to download either Pro or Basic.

Pro only lasts for six months. After that your e-mail address is removed from the data base. fwiw I reckon 4.9.29pro is worth the meagre re-investment :) and it goes to wards the continued development of an excelent product.

I used tu use Limewire basic version, and today I decided to upgrade to Pro.
I got the file on the Limewire website

Try this: go to http://www.limewire.com/english/content/download.shtml >click Get pro >>>>> agree to no copyright infringement > You will see The order form. > click "already bought pro" enter your email address and you then have to choose which platform you have> click OSX and the download will begin, after you have chosen the save option.

The file you get should be the right one. I explained this in detail as I want to know if it works exactly the same for you.

In fact it's always the same page I end up to.
The link for OS X sends me to the Basic version download, and not to the Pro version.

When you purchase pro, it can take anywhere up to 24 hrs or on occasions up to 36 hrs before the LW customer support send you an email with a link to your personal pro downld page. You should bookmark this page. I've a suspicion you didn't actually purchase your so-called pro from the official site but a scam site who you paid & then they give you a link to the basic version. This is how they generally operate. Let's find out if this is true 1st so if it is you can cancel the transaction & start again if your card company is reasonable when it comes to online scam sites. FYI see http://www.gnutellaforums.com/showth...5&pagenumber=1 If you did purchase LW Pro from the official site then you should be able to access your personal pro downld page from this link.

Don't be put off by the installer name. After you install, go to the Limewire icon at the menu bar & select about Limewire & it should display a menu which shows it is the pro version.

I have installed the stuff and in the "about limewire" menu, it show only 4.9.29 without any hint of "Pro" anywhere.

And the Limewire encourage me always to upgrade to the Pro version !`

By the way, you are still awake ? What time is it up there ?

Please check the previous links i left. It seems you didn't actually purchase the offical LW pro. But instead you bought it thru a scam site who directed you to the basic downld page. The Basic versio is free. See where I'm coming from?

Imagine just one second that the guy who wrote the real "limewire pro download" page made a mistake.
Imagine, just for one moment, that when he wrote the "OSX" download link, he set the a link to the "Basic version" loading place.

How could I let them know ?
How could I asked them to fix it ?

I always end up to the "Limewire PRO" download page. On this page it is written "PRO" version.
As I mentionned earlier, the link I received from the customer@limewire.com is

Well that looks like an official limewire mail to me! I compared it with mine and it looks good. I'm imagining you can use a different computer at work. have you tried on that. I updated to 4.9.29pro yeterday or the day before with no problem and no one else has complained so your "imagine" theory does not seem to hold water :)

Have you tried contacting LW via the LW pro support page ... ie does your email address get you in to it.

Have you downloaded from both the English and the French language pages at the website? I need sleep, If you are still around tomorrow see you then:)

I have tried both english and french. Neither worked.

I have tried the link I initially received from the customer service, on the PC I got at work.........and it worked properly.
I have downloaded Limewire Pro for Windows !

So, apparently, it is not a scam but really from the Limewire official website I purchased the software.

But the problem is that I did not buy it to use it at work, but at home. Hence, I need the OSX version ......

I have sent a message to the technical support.

Patience is my second name.......
