Freeze w/ LW download to ITunes hi, with last LW update I have problem with download freezing for 5 minutes or so while downloading to ITunes. Never had this problem with old LW. Can't find older LW to replace this one that will let me download. While in freeze twirling disk mode, LW is still downloading and transferring to ITunes. Also I can't delete anything on LW without the same freeze thing happening. Any help? I'm using.. OSX 10.3.9 Imac G3 iTunes 5.0.1 Jave 1.4.2 LW 4.9.30 basic (updated all software) |
How much free space on your start up disc? and how much memory? I confess I have been wary about .30, so I'm sticking with .29 I have always had the freezing thing for a minute or two when deleting after a long session going back to the days of 4.8.x |

That sounds fine ... how about the ram... I think apple calls that memory (its on "about this Mac") |
Not sure how to check that out....Old lady at this end |
This also started with the .29, was fine before the last 2 upgrades..Maybe slow at times but all in all fine. Have not changed anything before and after last 2 upgrades. |
Click the blue apple top left> about this Mac and tell me what it says by Processor (I forgot that before) and Memory. I might not reply for a few hours, but some one else might. Especially hopefully usin 4.9.30 on an older Mac! (old man at this end) :) |

1 Attachment(s) Your system sounds fine. Did you get my pm (personal message)? Click on the user cp above to find it. Or use the forum jump Go button & drop down menu to find personal messages link. I did hear there was a bug with iTunes 5.0 (don't know whether 5.1 fixed it) where the crashing or misbehaviour of other programs would result. But I haven't seen anything abnormal since updating my iTunes from version 4. It might be worth doing a SAFE Boot & Repair Permissions (or this link Resolving Disk, Permission, and Cache Corruption) |
I can't say I've had any problems with iTunes 5 or 5.0.1.... other than the dissapearance of the <"only a Hobo's" limewire tunes> list at the top of the playlists which is a bit of a bore. ... but perhaps Apple had there own reasons for stopping it appearing:) As you have correctly noted Serra ... when the Limewire display freezes which is fairly often, it does in fact carry on functioning with out a problem. See if LOTR's suggestions help. |
