Limewire.dmg mounts but doesn't install. Tiger.

Hi there. I am running a brand new iBook, osx 10.4.2 tiger. 512 ram and 1.4 processor. I can download the install dmg from limewire.com but when I try to install it takes me to the click here to install limewire screen and upon double clicking nothing happens. Something looks like it's about to happen but doesn't.

Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks.

Hi

Shutdown, wait a couple of minutes, restart and try again.

Then if LW won't install, more info will help.

To get more details on the error message, open Console in your Applications/Utilities folder. A window will open that gives info about what is going on.

Try double-clicking the installer on the .dmg again. An error message will probably show in the Console window

btw--I've seen something like that on brand new machines, or the first time java is started on some new OS X installs.

Wierd!

Tried restarting several times during the day and had no luck. After reading stief's reply I ran the install again with the console open and low and behold it installed this time. I'm sure that wasn't the effect that console was supposed to have, I assume it was simply to give me a break down of what was going wrong but it just installed. Strange. I have had this similar problem of inconsistant installs and wierd things happening after updates, mainly with iTunes and iPods, on my G4 Powermac but I can't explain it. Stief, thanks for your help. Hope this thread will help others.

Glad it's working

If someone else has a similar problem, would you try opening the Utilities folder first?

(Maybe that will help OS X find java)
