Download/Reinstall problem- email not found even though I bought the software

I bought Limewire last year online with a credit card.

I need to reinstall it but my email address doesn't work when I go to the download page. And I can't access the Support forum without the Limewire website recognizing my email. Feel like I'm being cheated a bit here. Any ideas on how I can prove my purchase (not sure I still have the bank records) or who to contact about this? Thanks,

James

The real LimeWire Pro allows you to update for six months. Sounds like yours is expired.

Some people get scammed, thinking they get a "lifetime membership" (for something, I guess), and those sites give people a link to the Free LimeWire (Basic). The people who go that route often think they are getting "Pro" but it is a scam.

Not sure which situation applies in your case.

I definitely signed up for Pro from the Limewire site- I had faster downloads etc. But it wasn't clearly marked anywhere that the license lasts 6 months or that if you accidentally erase the software after 6 months you need to buy it again. Ridiculous. Have never heard of this.

It reads "free updates and support for up to 6 months."

I don't want an update. I just want the original software I bought- whatever version it was, 2.0 or something.

Good luck. Maybe a friend has a backup of your version.

For help finding the version number of the one you had, see http://www.limewire.com/english/cont..._history.shtml

Thanks for the list of versions. Think I had 4.0 or a bit more recent.

Any idea how I can contact support about downloading my old version?

Guess they don't read the forums.

Version 2 wouldn't be very healthy for the network. There's been fundamental changes in the way the program works to keep up with the gnutella community accepted development & behaviour of the programs. I also jumped from version 2 to 4.

Yea. I'm sure your right about v2. I was mistaken on my first post- I'm looking to download v4 or 5. Would assume those still work.

But not sure who to contact about downloading it. Any ideas? Thanks.
